following Andy's advice

After owning the G for almost 12 months, it was due it’s 22,500 mile service. Firstly, I should say this has been the most trouble free ownership I’ve ever enjoyed, and that’s comparing the G to the SL55, VW Toureg V10 and BMW M3 to name a few.
While dropping my car off, before I could even ask, I was told “we have them in stock” am I that predictable! So during the service I had the new G air performance filters fitted.
Picked the car up the next evening, and didn’t really notice any difference from the new filters on my drive home though traffic. So the next morning on a mostly empty road I was taken back when I push the accelerator and before I could register what was happening, I was almost embedded into a car which just a moment ago and been just two tail lights in the distance.
After driving for another 20 miles or so in traffic now, I notice the engine was running at say 600 rpm more than it sounded. So another consequence of the change is that running through traffic with little throttle applied, the engine is quieter, I’m still adjusting to this, since you instinctive change gear on the level of noise from the back of the car.
Another 10 miles later and I’m almost at my destination, driving down a single track back road which has just been resurfaced, no cars in front of me, so I drop down into second and hit the “go fast now” pedal– an over used term I know, but OH MY GOD, it feels like I’ve been given a new car, faster and more restless.
If you have a pre 2006 G, find your dealers number and get your car booked in, you won’t regret it.
Thanks to Andy C for suggesting this change, and Lambo Manchester for knowing me all too well and ordering the new filters for me.
