Dear All,

Hi - I have been watching this forum for a couple of months and thought I would say hello.

I have recently purchased a Maserati 3200 GT - Silver with red leather 2001 Auto. I did have a Boxster which was never out of the garage, so thought I may as well buy something that isn't supposed to be all that reliable.

First impressions - brilliant - very well put together. BUT don’t press the peddle on the right if it remotely looks like it has been raining.

2 things

Not sure if you are allowed to post defamatory comments regarding dealers so I welcome feedback before being booted off.
On a positive note
I have been to a garage in Sheffield - Millbrook that cater for Ferrari Maserati and the like. Really good service. They took a lot of time with me as it is my first big boys car. Hopefully I wont be seeing them.

I only wish I had spent as long on this site researching as I did looking on Autotrader.

Brownie, first off: wavey Welcome to PH!

Secondly, cracking choice of car, I absolutely fell in love with a 3200 Assetto Corsa I had here about 11 months ago.

Like yourself, I found the car to be extremely skittish in the wet but it all adds to the fun. thumbup

As regards to comments about dealers, I believe aslong as you don't post who it was specifically about, you'll be ok.

Cheers Phil,

Ok here goes
On the way home from the dealer traveling on the M60 back to Sheffield the windscreen wipers failed to work correctly on intermittant.

Dealer said this was a common fault and nothing to worry about. The garage said it was the relay and happily burning away.

I do love the car and am collecting Nectar points from the garage. Just booked a free 1/2 hr flight and rally experience. Who said that 10 miles to the gallon doesnt have any befefits.

My theory is to enjoy it.

Hi welcome - good car choice. 10 mpg is just ridiculous.

I went to the MPH show at the NEC on friday. On the way back (M42) got it up to 135+ mph. Had a evo tickling my rear. I bottled it and the evo went past. Better that than losing control.

Do you guys know of any groups around these neck of the woods. I live 5 miles from the Snake pass, similar to the A6. Not a bad part of the world.

Silver and Red - great combo, mines blue with grey and I just love it!! It seems to me that my 3200 will pass most things on the road apart from a petrol station!! Tried to get some pictures up and failed - dont know why, must have got old and stupid!!

Tried to mail you last night but only just become a new member and the forum requires 24hrs before you can PM.

I am the owner of your old car.

What can you tell me of its history. Please tell me you have the Red key. Why did i not look up on the forum before buying.

When I bought the car i got the dealer to sort the small rust on the back and minor knocks. Since then i have had the brake discs cross drilled as the holes were clogged. never too sure at speed!!

Also got a mail from the dealer saying the trim is on its way for the windscreen.

Whilst under waranty is their anything that you would suggest getting seen to. Is the clunk underneath anything. Also had the handbrake cable tightened as it was loose.

Other wise it is the muts nuts.

All advice greatly appreciated. Money saved goes into the beer kitty - to be divided.

I dont have red key I'm sorry, it never had one, I had a full maserati warranty & (its a long story but) a certain dealer who did the pdi & ticked the sectio marked "all keys present" had me over a bit. however..I never needed it, a good servicing guy at a main dealer told me there was virtually nothing aside from needing a replacement key that you need it for. I certainly didnt, even with some ecu issues.

When I bought the car i got the dealer to sort the small rust on the back and minor knocks. Since then i have had the brake discs cross drilled as the holes were clogged. never too sure at speed!!

When i sold it, it had no knocks at all, the brakes needed new pads & possibly discs on front. I can assure you, the car still managed to brake from 160+ with 4 people in it with no problems at all! (vmax 8)

Also got a mail from the dealer saying the trim is on its way for the windscreen.

Whilst under waranty is their anything that you would suggest getting seen to. Is the clunk underneath anything. Also had the handbrake cable tightened as it was loose. I was told the clunk underneath was aircon & nothing to worry about.

Other wise it is the muts nuts.

All advice greatly appreciated. Money saved goes into the beer kitty - to be divided.

its a lovely car, I added some later badging as you probably saw. Check the left hand cam cover, it was weeping very slightly, dealer can sort it no probs for you.

All in all the car was hugely reliable & i used it every day in all weathers and it performed faultlessly, a couple of minor issues sorted under warranty. i was very sad to see it go & i hope you enjoy it very much, it had a great bark!

Just driven over the snake. It does indeed bark!!

Thanks for the feedback. Local garage had spotted the leak. They cleaned it up and I am due in to have it checked.

Intresting that the badges were added by your self and not as the dealer said due to a spec improvement for the 2001 model.

Any footage of the Vmax.

haha, what a bullsh1tter.

there should be vmax footage somewhere, there were also some good photos taken by trackdemon.

If you look at www.vmax15000bhp.com gallery, go to (I think vmax x) and look under 5th gear, there are some pics of it at the bottom.

They were taken just before I rolled it

that was a great one, pissing with rain, end of the straight, asc off, slowed to about 25, dropped it into 2nd and floored it on full lock, not sure how many spinds but my passenger went green, the amazing thing was, it was so wet there was virtually no tyre wear at all.
