Why is the 456 not loved?
Is it a difficult car to live with and expensive to own?
Some of them have experienced monumental depreciation over the years, but strike me as a reasonable buy now.
Is the engineering solid or are they flimsy and tempermantal?

All thoughts and advice gratefully recieved.

Expensive to own? Yes.

All front engined Ferrari depreciate at an alarming rate. Makes a good used buy if you get the right car.

A chap I know bought his 456M new and lost 110k when he sold it a few years later. It was very unreliable too with lots of electrical issues. He had a door / window seal problem which took a few go's to fix too. Unless you need 4 seats I think a 550 is a better bet, but with either, you will need deep deep pockets. Remember, these were 170ish k new and the cost to run doesn't depreciate with age.

Lots of horror stories out there, but you don't hear about the more positive stories. For example, my 550 cost me £900 in maintenance in 13 months and 8000 miles.

Go on to fcars.co.uk if you want the low down from many very happy 456 owners in the UK.

Check the archives. There was a long thread on this a few months ago.

Thanks for the advice.

Is there a quick way to search the archives, or is it the old fashioned method - go through and look at them all?

I'd try using the search button at the top of the page
