Just having my 3200 serviced and they rang me to ask if I wanted my wheel nuts replacing as they're going rusty (actually the edges of them have turned a bit yellow).

They quoted £200 plus VAT!!

Sounds a bit steep for a few bolts so I declined the offer. I work close to Bentley and know people on there who'll do them for (hopefully) nothing.

Just wondered if it was a common thing.

Yep sure is. Itaian chrome is not what it used to be............ and it was crap then!

I had mine rechromed for next to nought. Find your local chrome plater and ask him to put in with the next tank and give him a drink.

Yes mines the same - its pathetic really, if they can't get the right quality for the wheelnuts, what will be done right?

Same for me, Graypaul just offered to replace 10 of my wheel bolts that had surface rust for JUST £85, oh and the wiper blades for £64... bargain. Also on comedy costs they charged me £111 + VAT for oil as part of the 18k miles service. You've got to laugh realy, oh and say no!

I paid £5 per nut to have mine stripped, polished and rechromed.

The only problem is being off the road for a week.

You can buy new ones for £10 each from Hill Engineering IIRC.

Dont they do the shouldered socket so that the chrome isn't chipped when you undo them?

Yep.

It is an expensive exercise.

Which is why I had 10 of my old nuts rechromed.

The other 10 were tarnished, but came up like new with a bit of Solvol.
