Anyone know this car at Top Gear Cars?
www.topgear-cars.co.uk/pages/showroom2005.php
It's the black one, fourth down on lhs. Interested in one of these but a little wary. Missed out on the last one at Elms.
Oh amd what's a 'Short stack gearbox'?

It's 1 of 3 SE cars they did, 1 black, 1 yellow, 1 orange (the rest of the world only had a hideous gold or brown). Must be a SE thing as the orange SE has a lurid dash too
The SE has shorter gears, perferated seats with electric seat back, Titanium carbon fiber trim instead of blue ribbion carbon trim in and out. It has gold colored magnisium valve covers for less weight. The SE is lighter and faster than the Regular
With this mileage , wouldn't be suprised if Carlo wants north of 110/115k

Are you sure it's an SE? (apologies if it's obvious!) The only reason I ask is that the price quoted is a lot less than that, and it doesn't say it's an SE on the site, unless I missed it.

Sorry Jon, the car isn't an SE. The description refers to the car being the best 1 of 3 6.0 VT cars made in the colour black (and ultra rare with the short ratio gearbox). It is in absolutely pristine brand new condition.
The interior pictures on Carlo's website don't do the car justice. The red dashboard surround and seat inserts are more of an oxblood colour and look stunning. (Although appear to be a much brighter red in the pictures). I saw the car in person yesterday and would have bought it but alas yellow and orange are my favourite colours.
The price? POA but less that £100k
I stand corrected ! I have 4 Black cars on my register + the SE, that's why I thought the wording of "1 of 3" and shorter ratio gearbox were the giveaways , but in reality the VIN number is too low to be an SE (12670) from my records this car was 1 uk production slot after mine .....

Thanks for that and the reassurance on the red interior. I guessed as much, having attempted to photograph quite tasteful interiors before with similar results.
I would love a 6.0Litre, would it do 40k without going bang?
Went to have a look at my Murcie's V12 which is on a plinth at Lambo Manchester. The wear on the camshafts is almost negligable, and Simon the tech guy says its general state is 'almost brand new'. It does need a flywkeel though at £2k
Having said that its lasted 40,000 miles plus so can't complain really. Going to change the plate too (£350) since engines out. Be back in 2 weeks with no cats and sports air filters.

Hi Simon
There are a couple of 6.0's which have done north of 30,000 miles
Wouldn't like to risk it, especially with no form of warranty to back it up
Re; pricing - if Mike Pullen can do the entire replacement clutch for circa 2.2k inc labour + flywheel is 2k for a flywheel a tad pricy ? ££££$$$$£££££

Well I've got it a bit less than that, but yea I don't know how he does it. I've only paid for the parts since the labour is being covered by the fact the engines out anyway. Parts are 2k even with a bit of discount. So how he spends 15/16 hrs of labour and charges £2200 inclusive I dunno. His labour rate must be half what a dealer charges. I also don't know how he gets the bits cos I spent weeks trying to get them from Valeo direct etc and they were having none of it.
yip this one is in real mint condition as wazza say`s
if you are keen on this one i would get on the phone to carlo ASAP
as for top gear cars i can recomend them very highly as hi have zymoled a couple of diablo`s for them down there and the care that they take with there cars are very high

surely this is down to the previous owner ?! Or are you saying they do a lot of 'prep' on their cars ?

Believe me Jon, the car is mint. Carlo has only had the vehicle in his possession for a few days. I first saw it last week, the day after its arrival and to be honest, I can't fault it. You know as well as I do, the 'preping' king operates from Manchester.

Ah. Probably a good thing as it's taken temptation away from the Earl of Bolton.

The short ratio gears. Would that be the same as offered to GT customers when they were speccing these? In other words the 'sprint 'box'? Speed tops out at about 186mph, but acceleration is biblical?

sounds familiar, Darren
ealmaker - was this the case with your Orange SV with the short ratio gears?Jonny5 said:

hi jonny as wazza says this one has just been taken in and i have not touched it and it`s in very good condition as wazza as seen it for his own eye`s
the 2 diablo`s that i have done down there was wazza`s yellow one that only had very minnor swirls on the paint work and the blue 6ltr that has had the full zymol detail
just to make a note that swirls are normaly caused to poor washing methoeds

Hi Mike,
My 1999 SV has a short ratio gearbox. If memory serves me right, the first four gear have been shortened for acceleration and the fifth gear remains unchanged for top speed. I'd imagine the gear ratios on the 6.0VT would be fairly similar and therefore not the same as the GT.
