3200 - bleeding the brakes

anyone had any experience of bleeding the brakes?
i drained the reservoir as low as i could without the risk of introducing air and filled up with fresh fluid. the right rear happily allows fluid to be pumped out, as does the front left. however, the front right and rear left (diagonals) don't pass so much as a dribble upon pumping the pedal or using a pressure bleeder.
am i missing something with regards to ABS setup or something? i know older non-abs cars had the brakes lined diagonally in case of line pressure failure - coincidence here that i'm having problems?
