YET ANOTHER 6.0 Litre biting the dust!!!!!!

Jon be careful - those things are clearly just waitng to fly off the road!

seriously though - at this rate 6.0 litre values are going to firm up considerably. There's one crashed every week!

Gents,

Yes, that'll be me :-(

Had a chap work on my drive / garage for a couple of months, finally finished it yesterday, so took him for a spin, literally. Drove the car very modestly for a few miles to warm it up and before it was warm it was off the road ! Came off on a slip road I've used a 100 times, and I'd have bet my life that it would have gone round the corner as it has done a 100 times before. Only this time back swung round, tried to correct & failed, hit the passenger side crash barrier nose on but going sideways down the slip road, continued to spin, back drivers wheel hit passenger side kerb (now facing backwards), then flipped back to neatly block both carriageways. Both driver & passenger OK, just opened doors & got out when it stopped.

Major damage appears to be front body / bumper fwd of A pillars, and rear drivers hub which has cracked a fixing and disconnected from the wishbone.

As it happened both a car & a bike behind me were being driver by off duty Policemen (starting to get paranoid now), and they both stopped, & helped till uniform arrived. Thankfully one of them reported to the uniform that `I'd not been giving it large`, and so they didn't pursue any action (which is fair). Now recovered to Lambo Acton awaiting assessment. I suspect it's £20K+ & 3+ months away from being on the road again.

cont'd...

Seriously annoyed with myself, although no where near the limits I've been before, so something amiss with the road I suspect. However I was driving, there's no one else to blame.

My apologies to my new insurer who I've been with for only about 5 weeks.

Was it your Diablo that I was admiring at the Broadlands Motor Pageant in Romsey, Hampshire earlier this year?

Damn, sorry to hear that mate. Glad you're OK and hope you get it back on the road soon. At least it's winter so you don't miss any prime time driving weather. What did your passenger think about the whole episode?

Really sorry to hear about your accident - but at the end of the day you both walked away and it can be repaired.
Theres been a number of offs with the TVRs as well - whilst not quite in the same league power/cost wise it is a big wake up call that the roads are starting to get dangerous once again.
Take it easy out there peeps.....

Sorry to hear of your ding. But glad you were both OK.

Slip roads can be very dangerous places. Was the road damp? Often get diesel on them and road markings can get very slippery very easily.

Good luck getting it fixed up.

Hi there,

Nigel so sorry to hear about your accident hope you are ok.

Here's a picture I took of your car earlier this year at the Brooklands Lamborghini Celebration. Perhaps this pic will tide you over until your pride and joyis back where she belongs.

it is easy to forget just how much the roads change going in to winter. i'm only home at weekends and going out in the car once a week really does amaze me as to how much the conditions change, it can suddendly be night and day over a period of 1 week.

sorry to hear about the car, and i know it's a cliche but you are okay and nothing else really matters.
