Looking at swapping my M3 in Jan/Feb for something with 4 decent seats and pretty quick. It looks liked a choice between an RS4 Estate and an M5. However one option had slipped my mind till i saw a stunning black one today in Berkeley Square. The Maserati Quattroporte. Older guy driving it so it got me thinking, is it a car for an older person? Thoughts.

they go like stink, would scare an old man, real individuals car in my view, BUT probably not very sensible next to an M5 which probably does everything better, and will cause you less seepless nights....heart or head time. Good Luck

Abolsutly not....I am 30 something woman that is thinking of trading my 3200 Assetto Corsa for one.

It is the most gorgeous car on the road...with the exception of the tail lights... Maserati havent designed taillights well since getting rid of the boomerang shape, when the 3200 went and the 4200 arrived.

Just my opinion...I am sure that many others will disagree...so off you go boys shoot me down!

Quattroport is quicker round bedford than a new M5 and you have the benefit of your old man liking it also.

why not wait for simpress to buy one, and check out the feedback.
Even better, buy the 3200 assetto corsa from her and you have a kick-arse M3 replacement, only with a tad more style ........

old mans car? only in so much that they are the normal group of buyers as they are in a position to afford.

i don't think the car itself would have that image.

FWIW, i'd take the RS4 in a heartbeat. I think it will lose least in deprciation too.

If I were looking for a saloon car in that price-bracket I'd go for the Quattroporte. It oozes style and sounds gorgeous. The other options may be pretty handy too but they're nowhere near as special.

I would love one, but would have to buy at 3 years, if nothing else its worth it just for the pleasure of answering the question of what do you drive with the word........Maserati. Just sends goosebumps down my spine for some reason!

Have'nt driven an M5, but have taken a Maser Q around Brooklands and I quite liked it.

Although if it came to buying one...I'd get an M5.

But teh Maser GT was quite nice and very stylish.

Its a cool car whatever age the driver. Now it has a proper auto too which hopefully improves the drive. The CC gearbox and I didn't get on. That is one area where the SMG in the M5 is better.

Talking residuals, the cheapest QP on autotrader 6 months ago was 53k, today in dark December the cheapest is 48.5k, not that bad over 6 months. Not sure how flexible the dealers are on price though, maybe you can twist their arm an awful lot!
