There's a thread on Fchat.com that the supplier of the carbon fibre bodyshells for the LP640, Ferrari 599 & Carrera GT has just filed for bankruptcy. Possibly a reason for the reduced allocation of 640's recently announced if the story is true? The company that supplies them are based in nearby Modena.

I thought that the reduced US/UK/German allocation of Lambos/Ferraris for next year was because the company needed to supply additional cars to new markets (India/Pakistan/China/Brazil) to get numbers up to a "critical" level to support the "maintence" network

Regarding the CF manufacturer that went bust,
first how can someone with an almost exclusive supply deals with Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche for their "top end" cars go bust? - I guess thats Italy for you,
but second the company will clearly be bought over (probably by Ferrari or VW)so it shouldn't really affect supply

Morning,

From Talking to Mark at Lambo Manch yesterday, he implied that the reduced no's to the UK was as a result of US demands. Apparantly if Lambo don't deliver on time to the US the dealers cancel the order without payment!! Pity we don't have the same pull in Europe.

Interesting news bout the body shell supplier though!

The 640 they had in there yesterday with the Capristo exhuat on sounded horrible. Definately wont be purchasing one of those for our car.

Andy.

Hadn't heard about this but I have heard that the price of Carbon Fibre is going through the roof due to Airbus buying up all available stock for this new super jumbo of theirs. Maybe it just got too expensive and there wasn't any profit in it anymore.

Yes but all the US customers are being told the opposite, that with the low $US Lambo are better off selling all their cars in the UK/Europe
