Hi chaps, has anyone gone on factory tours at Ferrari/Lambo/Pagani?

I'm planning to drive down there with my girlfriend next summer (she treated me to a factory tour at Porsche in Stuttgart this week).

I'm assuming Ferrari do some kind of tour, what about Lamborghini and Pagani? What's the cost like of these and how far in advance do you need to book?

Finally, I'd quite like to drive over there, is this a great idea in a VX220 or will I be completely knackered by the time we're there, even with spacing the trip out? Hopefully I can convince my girlfriend to drive the VX to give me a bit of a break. Any tips as far as route down there, in terms of vague directions and mileage?

The route I take is Calais to Paris (she'll love it there) then to Strasbourg (beautiful city), then turn South after crossing into Germany heading to the Swiss border (via the autobahn), onto the St Gottardo pass, over the Alps and get a Cappaccino by the lake at the summit. (Do not take the tunnel unless you want to sit behind trucks for 18 miles). Then head towards the Italian border and cross it near Lake Como. Again, its stunning there. After that head towards Milan (but don't stop there its like Sheffield,) and then Bologna where you should stay at least one night. One of the best Italian cities. Then its about 40 mins to Sant'Agata and 30 mins from there to Pagani and another 45 mins to Maranello. For tours email cristina.guizzardi@lamborghini.com a few days before, ring Pagani or email them at www.paganiautomobili.it. they are very nice there. For Ferrari tours I don't know I'm sure someone else can help you. If you want any hotel details then let me know.

Hi

I done the Lamborghini factory tour and the Ferrari tour (the Galleria) last year.

I'm a little bias here (as I've got a Lambo) - but the Lambo tour was far more friendly and welcoming (and free!!). The ferrari visit whilst it was still VERY VERY good, it is a commercial venture! If you get a visit in to the Ferrari factory - you are either very well conected (or SAS and tunnelled your way in!!).

Don't forget there are TWO Lambo tours that you can take
1/ the factory - Kristina is fantastic and will look after you there
2/ the museum - run by Lamborghini's son (about 30 mins from the Factory)

Both of which have to be pre booked.

Hope this helps!

Ian

Just to clarify that, there is a museum at the factory as well as a separate museum run by Lamborghini's son Tonino, as you say a few miles away. Haven't been to that one though

yes Does anyone know the facts about Tonino's relationship with the rest of the family? I've had several people recently inform me that the family effectively disowned him and he went on producing his own branded Lamborghini items, including clothing etc?

Sant'Agata is a great place, I only went in the factory on the last visit because they were moving something in the museum.

His quarrel was with Chrysler who had just bought the company back in 1987 from the Mimran family. Chrysler refused to have anything to do with Tonino Lamborghini and the surviving family as a whole, so he did set up and market his own label producing clothing in stores located in London Paris and Milan. It all came to head in the early 1990's after Ferruccio Lamborghini died, after which Chrysler threatened to sue, as they thought they had bought the company trademark logo 'Lamborghini' which Tonino said they hadn't. In the end Tonino Lamborghini withdrew his intentions after reaching a settlement with Chrysler which basically let him still market a range of clothing etc but only under the brand 'Tonino Lamborghini'..
