Havent watched the Video (damn work firewalls
) but when evo put the 997T against the Gallardo ther verdict on the handling/driving experience across the roads of wales was that:-
interesing to see what the video shows, just gotta wait until I get home.

But Evo tested an 06 Gallardo if my memory serves me right. That vid is an 05 which I think is different and more inline spec wise with the SE though I could be wrong.
They weigh about the same and have roughly the same power (with overboost on the 997TT) & torque - so I can't imagine either is much faster than the other in a straight line and certainly not to the degree that video highlights. For a car to pull away like that from another car requires a serious extra amount of power which just isn't there on a standard 997TT.
Don't get me wrong - I am a Porsche fan & owner (996TT) but something isn't quite right on that video, no way could either car pull away so quickly from the other if both cars are standard & floored it at the same time.

I agree - having driven both there's no way a standard 997TT would pull out that kind of gap from a Gallardo. If you look on the same site you can see a comparison of the TT against a F430 - which is very close - and remember most reports put the Gallardo as faster than the 430 so something doesnt add up?

Clearly then the guy either can't drive or thats a somewhat poorly Gallardo?? A pal and I drove his (admittedly 06) Gallardo and his F430 (now sold) back to back/head to head - and during standing start and rolling in-gears the G car pulled a couple of lengths on the 430 irrespective of which of us was driving.

There was also a Gallardo v F430 "battle" in Best Motoring a while back, the F left the Gallardo behind with ease?

Also saw a smart car pull away from an F430... these videos will always have an element of surprise!
Wasnt a suprise, it had approx 180bhp (possibly alot more, lovely bike engines!) and weighed approx 600kilos, probably nearer 500kilos I should think. The F would have it in any other situation though, apart from donuts?
The Gallardo getting pasted by the F430 in a Best Motoring vid was though!

Totally agree. The TT is a fantastic tool but not better than a Gallardo. I know 3 ex-997 TT owners who now have Gallardos and all agree that you can't split them. Same goes for the 430.
Bertie's right. If you really want to go fast, ride a sportsbike. I don't any more because I was in danger of needing a new extension for all my X-rays!
