Calling all Murci (esp. LP640) Owners?
Discussion
Fellow Lambo Owners, some advice please?
I have a sneeky feeling that I wont be able to resist the pull of the impending Murci ownership prospect at some point this year, so the Gallardo might be living on borrowed time now.
A few questions though if I may:
- What is the Murci like in comparison to the Gallardo? (Pro's / Con's)
- Is the Murci as useable as the Gallardo on a daily basis ?
- What should I look out for on used examples ?
- What are the 'must have' options ?
- What are the likely running costs over 12 months / 10k miles (roughly)
- Is it worth shelling out the extra for a new/newish LP640 over say on 05/06 Murci?
Thank you in advance

Well mate before owning one, I had back to back trials at Millbrook proving ground with Lamborghini.
The Gallardo was very like the 360, useable, interesting in a way, but the drive wasn't really Lamborghini proportion to me. I thought the 360 was a better car.
Then the F3000 driver took me out in the Murci, and WOW!!!!
That is why I bought one and not a Gallardo as I really like the design of the G, but the drive is totally different. It's a car you need to remember has alot of power, and the grip is stupendous!!!
I have only had mine for a short time, but it's been EPIC so far!!

It's just a big car, and you need to keep looking at every angle to make sure your not in anyones way and it's always an occasion with someone wanting to talk to you when your outside it, which is great when you've got time but when your in a hurry you look like a right jumped up tosser!!
My car is a manual so maybe it just feels more work than an egear? Not sure it might be just cos the 360 F1 seems easy to drive, bit like going from a 3.2 911 to a 993 it's less work, but still alot of fun.
The cars power seems to use traction alot, or maybe thats just me being a bit heavy footed, but everywhere I go I end up speeding as it's just too easy to do. In the wet it feels like it would lose traction easily with the larger tyres, but I might be wrong here as I've not used it too much.
Parking it in an NCP is just a joke and it needs two spaces, but the doors going upwards does help the old space thing. The wing mirrors are huge and it really helps parking etc. Getting it into the garage is a piece of cake just remember that the wing mirrors might need to come in if your tight.
I had my wipers pack in on a drive which wasn't too good but it got stripped and checked by the RAC assit and all seems fine now so maybe just a bad connection.
My car was bought from Clive Sutton and had nearly 5k of prep so they need alot of cash to prep them. And it also had a 2.5k front respray by the PO as it was heavy stone chipped.
I love going in for petrol and looking back out the forecourt to it as it's just a stunning car from all angles!!
I liked all the Carbon in the gnine bay, I mean I can't understand why Ferrari don't do that as I bet it's not too expensive!!
I believe you'd be surprised what you'd get the titanium 05 egear car at London Lambo for. I was offerred it for a very good price, considering it's still under manu warranty I think. Speak to Bruce Compton, great guy.

Well not sure what type of driving it was, but I take my hat off to him, I'd rather enjoy my drive in a decent daily and keep it special!!
He used it for running around in, just a daily driver.. I think he planned on keeping a Veyron for "special"
Would love to have seen the trade-in price on it after 45,000 miles, and wonder what money was spent over that 18months.
I prefer to drive something thats more useable than a Murci daily like a Range rover or high spec saloon, even if money was no object and the skies the limit I'd probably have a Rolls and a Driver TBH, not a Murci.

Mosi - the LP640 is just another planet away from the Murcie. Speak to Steve at LL and if their demonstrator is fixed yet , book a test drive and take your cheque book.
In what way Jon, have you driven them on a track ?
Not yet but in the pipeline..... But I did have a v.agressive test drive and have driven it back to back with a Murcie
For me, the Murcie isn't a quantum leap from my 6.0. In many ways imo (brakes, interior, exclusivity, residuals) it's a step backwards - I was really sceptical about how much better the lp640 could be, on paper it doesn't look much... But the culmination of all the small changes ... more power (much more aggressively delivered, less of the smooth sweeping power band) - great brakes, e-gear , styling and exclusivity did it for me. I actually don't think it's that bad a value for £200k , that's a dead mans land for new supercars

If it helps, I had a Gallardo then went to the Murci then back to the Gallardo Spyder. If you want a full debrief, then kindly e-mail me.
Regards

Carl I suspect rather than a few people emailing you, would be possible to post a few brief thoughts here on the comparisan, I for one would be quite interested in them.
Many thanks.
