Finally able to post the outcome of the recent trials that have been going on at Lambo Manchester.... and the result is my Gallardo getting a new engine!!

To cut a long story short the car as usual has been performingly faultlessly, but for the last 3 or 4 months has been using anything up to 3ltrs of oil every 1,000 miles, depending on how hard I drive it. Apparently a few of the early Gallardo's have experienced the same issue, with again replacement motors being authorised as the fix. With mine being chassis no 393 I guess Iwas just unlucky, or lucky whichever way you look at it. Had it into to Lambo Manch a few times for the required checks by the factory, but thankfully four days before the warranty expired Santa Agata has Authorised a new replacement 06 Spec motor. The Change according to the techs at Lambo requires a new engine wiring loom and ECU re-mapping etc.
The extra HP should be nice with the other enhancements I already have, so can't wait to test the final result.
I've attached some pics courtesy of V-Neo today, thanks Simon.

Will keep you all updated on the progress. I guess the only issue is now I got to run it in before I can expolit the new potential.

A big thanks to Saj for all his help on this.

Andy.

If you dont mind me asking, what has actually failed with the first engine ?

If it has been running absolutely fine, but just using excessive oil - what was the fault ?

Thanks

Its an Unknown. Compression test was OK and everything else checked out OK. My guess would be either the oil scraper piston rings or the valve seals. Both of these have had there design modified from 05 model years onwards. The techs at Lambo are not allowed to investigate the cause of the failure, they just have to ship it back to the factory untouched for analysis.

Another example of Lamborghini Manchester's excellent customer service, as well as Lamborghini Automobili's customer care programme.

Well done Mark and Saj! Setting the standard as usual! clap

Nice result Andy, car looks amazing without the engine. I guess there was no issue with the fact that you were running it catless ?

With the new 06 engine, does that mean you'll get the similar (improved) sound ?
Or did they change the exhausts as well for the 06?

Sounds like you have been very lucky with the new engine. Should make an interesting add if you was ever to sell it.
