Ferrari builds special 612 Scaglietti

60th anniversary brings limited edition GT

Ferrari will build a series of 60 unique cars as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.

Based on the 540bhp  5.7-litre V12-powered 612 Scaglietti, the Prancing Horse’s special GTs will come in a two-tone livery in a combination of classic Ferrari colours as used on some of the Italian company's most memorable models. Interiors will include new colour combinations and a new-generation electrochromic glass roof, whose opacity can be altered to suit -- just like the on the Ferrari 575 SuperAmerica.

Each example will also boast an enamelled symbol set on the central tunnel representing one of the 60 historic events chosen to celebrate the marque’s anniversary.

How much? Ferrari isn't saying but the standard 612 Scaglietti costs £175,725 before options, so you're unlikely to get any change out of £200,000. If you can get one, that is...

612 sales must be really slowing down. There were already big discounts on new LHD cars last year.

special editions does imply slow sales, though I dont suppose the discounts will ever bring it into my territory!

I know for a fact that Flemke has ordered 5 of these - what really sold him, was this:

He wants a car to celebrate each of Shoemakers championships with Ferrari.

For all of its performance, finish, cost & special editions I just cannot get over the Scaglietti's gormless expression...It looks a bit confused, and somehow apologetic for its own presence.

Mazda RX9.

Thank god they've built the 599. Not perfect, but a lot better.

Two tone paint?
Not sure that I like the sound of that.

It mentions the 575 SuperAmerica(was this the cab one) but this will not be a folding roof on the 612 right?

2 tone paint has a precident on the big GT Ferrari's. Think 410 SuperAmerica, 250 Europa, 250 Zagato and more recently the 456M GT Scaglietti and 575 GTZ. Octaine even run a feature some time last yr with a 410SA series 3 painted in the same colour scheme.

I know it's not beautiful, but it is my favourite out of the current stable when it coems to the styling.

gotta say i really like the way it looks and from the reviews i have read i seems to be a great car. dynamic enough to be good fun but civil enough to be comfortable. an everyday fezza

i think this new incarnation edition looks ok, and it is the ultimate 4 seater after all

though 2 tone paint as seen on this 575 superamerica just doesn't work

Each to their own but that 575 above or any 575 Barchetta just look hideous to my eyes. 360 and 430 look nice but last real good looking and drop dead gorgeous Ferrari was the Boxer. They've lost it and don't look special any more, Enzo excepted.

If I recall J Plato Esq was impressed with the way Scagliatti drives tho'.

Wonder if the two tone colour scheme has anything to do with M VanDenbrink's work (as featured on here a while back)??

Eh, what's funny about that? Oh yeh, Flemke doesn't like Ferraris, and he has lots of nice cars, ergo Ferrari are crap.
