Apolgies for ma shouting, we all just get a bit excited sometimes.

Traction kicked in alot so kept losing speed out of hairpins etc. All a learning curve I guess.

thx mate, must admit, it did hold corners extremely well compared to the other cars that I thought would have been better. Of course track based cars are more suited as they are more nimble, however I really enjoyed the day and would do it again no probs.

another pic.

Great vid.
That 911 in front was quick. Who was that and was it tweaked?
Great soundtrack from the Murci.

Yeah, Gordon is a knockhill veteran so knows the course well, and it is a RS so is quick but I was only just out and wanted to get some heat into my tyres so just let him go. It was my first bit of track time in the car so was a bit cautious.

Great to see you getting some real fun out of my old car. I am extremely jealous!!!
The track is perhaps not best suited to the size of the Murcie, but it didn't show.

Car still looks and sounds fantastic.

The traction control on the car is a little intrusive, if you take it off next time, you'll feel a real difference.

Carl

Hats off to you, Paul. The Murci is a big fella for the likes of Knockhill but still somehow fitting.
God's own driving country, combined with the sound of thunder! Magic.

Cheers mate, I'm just so loving it mate, it just gets better and better daily with it. It really was a great day.

See it's funny as everyone thinks that the Murci is too big for the track, but I just didn't think that. I thought it felt really together for it's size and it really impressed me.....god knows what ya buy next after it!!! I don't have footballer money so an Enzo is out for me, but for the money it's a belter I think.

I'm sure I'll take it off next time. Do you need to reset/recycle the ignition or can you turn it off and on at your leisure?

Carl, ya know those 2 wee dents, did you have dent wizard, or dent master or whatever they are called, look at them?

Thx
Paul

I don't think Murciélago's are necessarily too big to track, but basically cost prohibitive on repairs and upkeep for essentially a non track car. Personally I like the idea of Lambo for 'Sunday best' and something more capable for track (read Caterfield/GT3/Ariel Atom)

Thats a good point. The Murcie is not as fast as say a Gallardo around the track, i've seen it many times. The Gallardo just hangs on in tight bends, but try that with a Murcie and once it lets go its goodbye from him. Its possible to catch but nearly always swings the other way. I'll never forget a nameless person from Evo magazine taking turn 2 at Bruntingthorpe in my car - a fast sweeping left hander that in the dry you could touch 80. This guy took it at 90 with me in the passenger seat on a damp track. I felt it twitch and said 'its gona go' and christ did it..Span 4 or 5 times, its not a nice experience at that speed and I banged my head hard on the window. Can't deny I absolutely sh*t it. No, a 360 Strad or a Noble/Exige would be my ideal track car

David Yu and I spent some time recently trundling around Brunters in my 89 xpack Vantage, which tickled him pink. Huge fun, but totally a fish out of water. Not a great track car, but fun nonetheless

http://homepage.mac.com/jonhoneyball/ for some trackside video -- no Tubis needed here :-)

(you need quicktime 7 and a sensible browser)

I think it suits me as I only do a few tracks days a year and it's purely for fun, I don't need to be the fastest I just want the biggest smile!!!

My next service is 2800 quid so getting as much out the car before they do that!!!

Yes mate it's the big service, £2800+VAT but he said he'd see if he could get me some discount on that as I have used them alot for other cars.

Tyres are at 4mm all round so a new set of them by May I presume also.

So yes it ain't cheap to run one thats for sure.

Most probably mate, but it should be ok as it's not long been prepped and I don't think I'll have done much more mileage since then.

Was out yesterday in it, lovely brisk sunny day and it's the first time the drive to the dentist has been enjoyable!!!

Yes the dentist is not usually a trip to look forward to.

So you have got it back all sorted from your loss of brakes after Knockhill what was eventually done?
