Ferrari F430 versus Lambo Gallardo
Discussion
I have been pondering going down the Fezza F430 route over the last few days.
Would this be a worthy replacement to the Gallardo, or would I be disappointed ?
Does anyone have any first hand experience / input regarding pitfalls to watch out for here ?
Just collecting ideas / thoughts / others experiences etc for now, so this is just food for thought before I potentially go out and check out a few.
Also, I really dont like flappy paddle gearboxes - would I be attempting re-sale suicide if I bought a manual 430 ?

Steve. Can't imagine anyone being "disappointed" with a 430. However, it is a very different proposition to a Gallardo, and I know a few people who actually have both.
If driven in anger the 430 is less idiot proof than the Lambo, and requires more skill to get the best from (think 360CS) at the limit. The Gallardo is more exploitable by mere mortals (not that anyone ever admits to being one) and is a superior road car IMO. But that's like saying Halle Berry is hotter than Giselle. At the end of the day, they're both perfect.
Gearbox choice is subjective, with detractors quick to point out that only a manual is the correct driver's choice (please
). I usually point at the 360CS again at this stage.
If you're worried about resale non-"flappy stick" is the way to go, but you really should get what suits you, and bugger what actually sells best.
As we all know, at this level, it's all about prejudice not facts and I'll be the first to admit it.
For those who follow MotoGP, Loris Capirosso has just swapped his 430 for a Gallardo. For the WRC fans, Sebastien Loeb drives a Gallardo.
My gardener has a 430 though.

I'd be thinking cost to move .... £40k + , is a 430 good - very. Is it £40k better, probably not.
True, but then by the time you've factored in the relative depreciation, the numbers start to make more sense. Once Lambos get near 3 years old, they start to struggle a little for obvious reasons.
Spider Vs Spider, but still could be of use to you...

Well I must say...I've just had 24hrs (not a whole 24) in a 430 Spider and I thought it was the best car I have ever driven...it stimulates absolutely every sense! I do have a Gallardo Spyder for a whole weekend fairly soon though too so I'm not sure how they will compare.
But let's put it this way...before my missus drove it she was unhappy with me spending around £140k to buy one.....now she wants me to go and get one! Thing is she doesn't like the look of the Gallardo....so I may have to get that otherwise I'll never get to drive it!

May I be nosey and ask - is the Gallardo spider, begged, borrowed or hired?
