I know it's technically not in the correct section, but currently there are two SLR's on Autotrader.co.uk for less than 200 grand!! How much further are they going to tumble??

Even at 200K I just dont see the take on this car or never have done since its inception (even more so at 340Kish). To me its just a 'chavved' up SLK with a big motor. Its not like the old F1 which really even today is still something special.
At the end of the day, if i had 340K its not a hard decision Zonda or SLR? I think you know where my money would be going.

Andy.

My thoughts exactly.

Personally for £200k I'd rather try and find a nice used Koenigsegg!

Not whilst they are still in freefall - the American cars are killing (or making?) the market - offered a 06/56 with 800 miles in the uk for £210k - I think they will get to 150 then they will be an awesome purchase.

i was assured by the usa dealer that id bought one of mine from that the car was pulled back from usa sale as it was killing the market around the world. im just in the middle of getting my third one.

I have the slr bug i prefer it to all the other supercars out there as its a car i can use everyday. it has a boot it has a auto box its comfertable even in the long run its a beutifull car and thats what i pay my dollar for. I didnt buy one as it was 5th or 6th fastest round a topgear track, it was because i think its beutifull and its usable...plus theres not many about.

I wouldnt buy a ccx as its too small and seems too hard work to drive and its the last thing i want. plus if it i burst a tyre somwhere i doubt the ccx teams would be there as fast with a specialist truck to sort the car like the mc merc squad (it was like knight rider!)

Theres only one car that i have the urge to get and its fugly and will have a red/black paint job.

ALthough on paper i believe the 599 is faster the slr suits my driving style better and hence i can prob go faster round a track.
TBH im the laziest pistonhead out the lot i dont like chaging gears and i dont even like paddleshift, i like putting it in gear and leting the car sort it out. I also prefer the low end burble instead of the higher pitch tone of the 599.In general the 599 seems a bit more hard work than the SLR and thats not really my cup of tea.

The interior is simply amazing in the 599 and in the SLR its basic like the sl55. Outside its another story SLR beats the 599 hands down.

as i said i have the bug.

The SLR is just good value now and has to be the best buy around 200k... check out revlovers.com video... SLR against 599 rolling start... no contest!

Unless you love the looks (which I dont) or have to have it because it has the McLaren badge on it I would rather save over £100K and get a de limited SL65 AMG.

Would have to be a CGT over the SLR for me though.

apparently the sl65 drives lie a shitbag and the risiduals arent to great. i skipped that step and went sl55->slr there is a big difference.

The cgt is a great looking car but i didnt enjoy driving it. you have to think about it all the time no point and squirt.
The way people rave about it i might give it another go, i must admit jonny had to tell me about the 2nd gear ecu pull away as i kept on stalling in first and geting irate.

The clutches small and harsh biting point can make them easy to stall, pulling away in second helps this slightly. But the secret to pulling away gently in first is not to use any throttle and let the cars ECU get you rolling before using the loud pedal

You're right SL65 residuals are poor.. which means they're a great used buy. If you can get a used one for say £70K, that beats spending £200K on a used SLR with similar performance.

Can't comment on the handling personally, I've not driven one, but I know some people who have owned them and rate them.
