355 - Is this a TUBI - Quick Help Needed
Discussion
Hi,
I have just bought a 97 355 Spider. Really happy with the car, but I want to get a Tubi asap.
This is a picture of an exhaust that is up for sale - it is advertised as a Tubi, but looks different to the tubi style exhausts I have seen before (tubi style have a single pipe per bank that splits into two tips, whereas this has 4 pipes). Are there different Tubi types.
Is Tubi & Tubi Style the same thing?
Anyone recognise this exhaust? Know if it's any good on the sound front?
I have to decide whether to by this today, so quick help appreciated.

A bigger picture would help, but it doesn't look like a Tubi to me (bracket looks wrong).
Its actually on ebay see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl
Asked seller if it was defo a Tubi & he said yes. Just doesn't look right.
What do you think?

I do not believe that is a Tubi. It would be stamped on the can, and the brackets for them are angled up from the corners of the can and have "355" cut out of them. They don't have a horizontal piece of metal on them (note that my Tubi is, however, a few years old. But I can't see them changing the design for something that looks shabbier!).
Furthermore, I think QV supply their own sports exhausts, which I think come from the Stainless Steel Exhaust co up North. And which look very similar to this one.
Chas used to have one of these. He now has a Capristo having heard the difference.
The QV ones are quite a bit cheaper than Tubis (sub 1k, versus around 1600-1800GBP), but IMO the Tubi (or Capristo) is worth the extra.
I'd bail on the auction if I were you.

This is the ebay system. There are 3 major differences. The SS company one has 4 box ridges, and tail pipe brackets/spacers. As well as not having the top support bracket, in fact completely different brackets. I do know this system due to me being with the owner as he bought the car from a ferrari specialist called Forza288, who told the buyer that the car had only just been equipped with a brandnew Tubi. So any information that the seller had gave was straight from specialist Forza288.
MB: I do hope that the seller does not think me out of order in posting the above posts. He was not here to defend him self and i knew the facts. It was and is Forza288s description of the item.
