LP640 Top Gear Vid
Discussion
ANIMA ITALIA:
The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 has:
it's engine built at the Lamborghini factory,
it's chassis built at the Lamborghini factory,
it's drive train and gearbox built at the Lamborghini factory,
it's interior fitted at the Lamborghini factory,
it's bodywork fitted and finished at the Lamborghini factory
and, OK, it has a few bits of switchgear sourced through Audi but other than that,
it's all wedged together at the Lamborghini factory which as we all know, is in, er, ITALY
it's soul ('anima'), Italian or otherwise is certainly not lost and certainly not long-lost to funding a racing effort of only occasional effectiveness whenever it's wrapped around a German driver.
and as for Jemimah Clarkson - get the gist guys! - JC makes MILLIONS from semi-spouting mis-informative neo-nonsense and continuing to wind up as many people as possible - (including me, I freely admit!) - despite not seeing last nights programme, (yet), I'm told he made practically no reference to either the Countach or the Diablo that were in the studio other than some of the aforementioned mis-informative etc etc...
In any case, a friend from Calabria insists that anybody from north of Naples is practically German anyway and whilst that's a bit of a generalisation of Clarksonian proportions to say the least, his restaurant continues to make some excellent food, so he can say that as much as he wants...

I know what ya saying i was at the factory last year. Looking forward to hearing your opinion when lambo production moves to Germany
Many people think its just an Audi these days anyways, in the same ways when one says Bugatti Veyron, one thinks of VW
. Lamborghini will be as Italian as TVR will be British when production moves out of Blackpool and heads towards Italy. Also looking at the new Audi R8, what does that remind you of. Hey i am not knocking Lamborghini i had a Diablo two years ago.

Soul is all well and good but if a prerequisite of having soul is that a car is so difficult to live with that you're better off looking at a poster of it on the wall and dreaming, then it somewhat defeats the object. The LP640 is fabulous in every respect - it looks awesome, sounds awesome, and bites the unwary like a proper supercar should. I'd have one tomorrow if I could afford it. I think it has every bit as much soul as any Lambo, just with Audi keeping an eye on the quality, which is fine by me.

Ferrari dont need no German money, as well as Audi engines

Oh, grow up! You'll be rattling on about "racing pedigree" next.
You comment as if Lambo owners have never owned a Ferrari. When are some you narrowminded buggers going to realise that some of us are not on our first Italian supercar, or even our first Italian supercar manufacturer!
And what advice would you give Doug, who's just ordered a 430 to compliment his Gallardo?

Ah. Gottit!
And you're right. My horse is high.

I quite like Clarkson but he can come out with some absolute crap of the highest order. I remember he did a test on a Miura about 10 years ago and he said it was slow and had crap brakes. We are talking about a car that was made in the '60's and was independantly tested (Miura S) to have a top speed of 172mph and 0-60 in just over 6 seconds by Autocar and even faster by some European mags. When it was launched it was the fastest production car in the world and only the Daytona could give it a run for its money and that was launched a few years later than the Miura. 172 is still fast today let alone 10 years ago when he had a go in one. The example he drove must have been knackered but there was no reference to that and he just went ahead and slaqgged it. Totally unjustified slating of one of the world's greatest ever cars.
