Jason Barlow gives verdict on Gallardo
Discussion
Had Jason Barlow of Top Gear magazine (previously of Driven and Car magazine) in one of Gallardo's last week.
All part of an article for BA's High Life magazine. He flew in to Inverness airport and spent 24 hours hooning around the Highlands. I went up in the truck and handed the over car to him - 06 model E-gear coupe. He said he had driven them 5 or six times before. Talked to him about the R8 versus Gallardo issue, and he said surprisingly the Gallardo was the one that felt more sterile ie. more like an Audi.
Left him to it and thought - see what he thinks tomorrow after his Highland Raid.....
Met up next day at the airport. He pulled up next to the truck, opened the door, and I asked him how the trip had been.
"F@*king brilliant. I have a whole new respect for that car. And you can get it's tail out in the corners!"
Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone return from an epic trip like that with a massive grin and the thousand yard stare - especially when it's a journalist who has just been blown away.
He actually said he had never had a chance to drive the car properly like that, which makes you realise how subjective road tests are, and how they can be controlled by the manufacturers.
Anyway, a good - and well deserved - result for Lamborghini. Mr Barlow was a decent fellow too.

Nice post, Ed.
Truth is, Scotland is such a beautiful place and the roads are so good, he would have come away saying the same about a 430, 911 or even an MX5.
You will have fun in anything in Scotland.

This is undoubtedly true. Made me proud though......
Spoke to Jason yesterday, and he was still trying to wipe the grin off his face!
