Had a blast out on first track day in new motor on the PH challenge, however on one of the earlyish runs the brakes completely failed going into hammerhead - ploughed through and ended up in between the end of runway lights! White smoke pluming everywhere... guy at plans reckoned it's a common occurence on 430s (yes, yes I know I should've stumped up for the ceramics)... has anyone else experienced this and have some solutions, hoping that higher performance pads and/or racing fluid with a higher boiling point might solve it?

Am booked in on another track day at Easter and could do without a similar occurence when someone in front is jumping on the anchors!

My normal course of action worked whilst at the circuit (pootle round for a while and hope it'll fix itself!) and still managed to get a few timed laps in with no trouble so has cooling down solved the problem and I just consciously try not to let them cook again? Hadn't noticed any fade into the previous corners...

It could be due to fluid, and it could be brake fade, or both. I suffered the same thing recently and am convinced the normal 430 brakes are crap.

I have been advised by others on another board to flush out the fluid (it may have been boiled over before and it won't be as effective anymore) and replace it with motul 600 brake fluid and to change the pads for Ferodo DS2500.

My pads seem to have a decent amount of life at the moment so I'm going to have the fluid changed and take it from there. If it's still pants, I'll give the Ferodo pads a try. Apparently pagid are also very good.

If the pads are slightly worn, it would probably have boiled the fluid, and left you with little or no feel or baraking action... Maybe racing fluid would be the way to go... but I don't have an F430, so what should I know!?

Cheers. Car had only done 1k when I picked it up so hoping pads still in decent nick. Have dropped it in to have the fluid flushed and replaced today and they'll check over pads also.

For anyone interested Ferrari working on offering aftermarket ceramic package also...

Looking at the replacement costs of these, you might be better off just using the brakes less!
