Been looking for a gallardo for a while now without much luck but was looking on autotrader and saw a nice black 575 at maranello.had not considered one until i saw this one for sale. looks very nice. what do you think will be the steeper depriciator over the next 12 months??I realise the 575 has lost a fortune already. is there much in performance between these two cars??
to give some idea of what i'm used to i've just sold my 911 gt3.
cheers martin. ps i'm looking at 2004 year cars

Not driven either but totally different cars. Depends what you want it for.

Weekend fun and the odd trackday - Gallardo

Long continental touring trips - 575.

If you are looking for a simlar type of drive as your GT3 then its probably the Gallardo.

i know what your saying as i've drove a gallardo and loved it. but for some reason a big 540 bhp v12 and rear wheel drive seem like a fun combination. sure i'll find a gallardo soon but keeping my options open.

If its a good colour combo i think thats a good price. The miles are very good for that age.

O/T but when the 575 superamericana come down even further i wouldn't mind one of those. It was silly money to start with though when you compare it to a DB9 cab.

The general concensus with the 575 is that the Fiorano handling pack is a must have option. This option is not listed on the TDF Blue one and may explain the keen price.

I love my 575, price on that one looks good but as suggested FHP is a must on pre 2004 Cars. Never driven a Gallardo so sorry can't offer a comparison but I'd imagine they're very different cars

Indeedy.

Martin. If it hasn't got the HGTC upgrade the 575 has more of a GT feel to it, much like the DB9. If it has, then it's more of a sportscar less a tourer. Either is good, depending on what you want do.
If you're considering a 575, perhaps you should also have another look at the 911 Turbo? You'd be hard pressed to find a better road car, that will turn it's hand to everything.
I also think you should drive the Gallardo (I'm assuming you've already driven the Fezza) to firm up the decision making process.
"Middies" aren't everyone's cup of tea and the driving position of the 575 is more like your Porker than the Lambo.
Nothing wrong with the '04 Gallardo that hasn't already been covered in previous posts so use the 'search' facility. I'd also get it inspected by an authorized dealer to ensure any mods haven't been missed.
As far as the 'D' word. An '04 has lost about all it's going to in the foreseeable future IMO.
Good luck, which ever way you go.

Try them both.

I tried both but to me the 575 felt like a much older design, particularly the interior.
It felt like a generation before the Gallardo.

Then the wife told me I wasn't old enough for a big GT yet so I wen't the Gallardo route, and I'm happy with that.

The 575 was an awesome thing, and fast, but it feels big.

All IMHO

Seems to be a good time to buy a Gallardo although i doubt the sellers dont see it like that, off the top of my head i can think of a beautiful Yellow E Gear with under 10k miles for under £82K & i have also saw a few manual ones under £80K. I assume not having a warranty is driving down the prices at the moment for the early 04 cars. On the subject of a the 575 - I think Evo may have done a long term ownership test on one and the prices paid out for various things that went wrong were frightening!! Correct me if i am wrong but the only minus points i have heard of the Gallardo is the Clutch - Build quility seems to get the thumbs up.
