Hi there,

Was very grateful to Simon and Andy for inviting me to attend the first event held by their new company '6th gear experience' ( www.6thgearexperience.com ) today at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire.

Weather was fantastic which made taking pictures much easier and there was a great turn out of people wanting to try out the collection of superb cars.

Cars available to drive were as follows: -

Lamborghini Murcielago
Lamborghini Gallardo
Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
Ferrari 360
Aston Martin V8 Vantage

There were also some high speed passenger/demonstration laps being given in a very nice Black BMW M3 CSL.

Took loads of pictures as usual which I will work through in the next few days but heres a few to be going on with.

A bit of moral support came in the form of v-neo and crikeymikey

Hope you like them.

Regards

Tim

does that airfield let you use a standard 360CS and the AC Gallardo or have the car exhausts been "softened"?

btw good luck with the new company guys

Doug,

Both Simon and Andys car wore silencers, not sure about the 360 CS. However I know the limit at Elvington is 102Db and the 360CS gave a reading of 101.4Db.

Tim

Nice pics, Tim, as always.

Thanks to Andy and Simon for letting Jonesy and I turn up and mill about. Also to Laura and Tracey for providing the glamour and doing all the hard work while their boys just hooned around, showing off!

Also, good to meet fellow Ph-er Paul today (PaulGT3 wavey). It's a small world isn't it?

It was Larry's birthday today. The little fella is 2 years old.

I've just opened my last bottle of Torami (from Ferruccio's own vineyard) in celebration.

Cheers everyone! beer

They are very strict on the noise there like all the airfields/circuits..mine was 104db but had to keep it to 5000rpm, the silencers caused too much back pressure I think which brought the 'check engine' lights on. Wouldn't accelerate over 4500rpm. Not many noticed though. At least I'm hoping thats what it is. I'm going to have to do something with the brakes as they are getting worse.

sorry if this sounds thick, but whats going on with the exhausts on the blue gallardo and orange murci? the blue gallardo looks like they have extensions and as for the murci, they look too narrow! are they test pipes or restrictors??!?!?

Basically both of the Lambo's are too loud for the restrictions at most circuits these days so we had to come up with something easy to get on and off but does the trick. Both kill the noise nicely even if they do look a bit strange.

Andy.

I changed the discs as they had worn, to a set by Tarox that were grooved not drilled. Trouble is they have warped slightly and are even worse. Murcie brakes up to 2005 are dreadful anyway. I'm going to try and get hold of the better set up from a Gallardo to retrofit to mine. They were fitted as standard on Murcies after 2005 so if I can find a Gallardo thats being salvaged I reckon I'll use the bits from that.

She said to me afterwards that this Policeman had approached her and said he was going to 'have a word' with the guy in the orange Lambo at which point she thought I was about to be done for speeding.Think she was relieved! Yep I'll come to the cinema night no problem!
