Chaps,

The Gallardo has just had a lovely freshened up nose job + new light units / windscreen etc.

I think it might be best to get some paint protection film on it now, and was wondering what you guys have used on your cars ?

Before I accept first prices, what should I be accepting for rough cost of bumper/front wings/bonnet?

Thanks in advance

Before my Sophie went into the garage I was looking at the same thing.

Dion spoke to someone in the trade and sorted me a discount can't remember the guys details but drop him a line he might be able to help.

p.s like the plate on your car in your profile do you use them day to day?!

I got pulled with the black plates on (only £30 fines mind), so sacked them off (I was petrified of stinking of booze 24 hours after a big night out and getting pulled for the plates and losing my licence!)

I have a personal plate on now, so that one is long gone.

I will get in touch with Dion, thanks

I had my car done by Paintshield, before collection. Whole front bumper, half wings, half bonnet mirrors top and bottom, and sills. About £580.

I'd recommend getting the lights done as well. About another £50.

Two years on and no complaints.

I wouldn't go for the half bonnet, my Gallardo has that and you can clearly see the divide line - pay the extra £100 for the full bonnet

thumbup Good, mate.

Well, it was 2 years ago. £1000 seems a bit steep though (sorry Anne and Tom!).

Paintsheild also sent me a few square feet of spare film so I'd still recommend them.

Simonspider had his Murci done about a year ago and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Grand.

Si?

Glad your ok mate!!

My quote was closer to £1200 + Vat so for £1000 I would have bit their hand off.

Just goes to show you really should shop around.

Personally I don't like the film, even the good stuff tends to look worn after a while. If your talking £1000 plus I'd rather have it resprayed every couple of years.

Andy.

That's a fair comment, Andy. The darker colours seem to show the lines more.
Especially if you're not fastideous about clearing polish out of the edges.

I'd still recommend getting the headlights done, though. A new light is £1500.

The headlamp film used to be especially thick film (about 3 times thicker than the bodywork stuff) but, oddly, on Jonesy's car he's had the same film fitted as the bodywork.

Thanks for the info, sounds competitive then.

I hate the stuff, but after 2 resprays in 12 months its a necessity I think. Therefore I would only want the areas done that have actually picked up chips - which are full bonnet, bumper, wings, front lights.

Does your contact have pre-cut sheets/stencils?, or does he do some cutting once the film is on the car? (I cannot see how he would do a full bonnet wrap without having to cut the edges at the back end of the bonnet? (I am not keen on someone cutting the film as its on the car, and I know some of these suppliers do)

Also, can you ask if he needs to remove the lights in order to cover them (as again, some film suppliers do this and I would not be keen on my car being dismantled)

Which protective film does he use?

Sorry for all the questions, but its an expensive car!

That sounds incredible, what company is quoting that? My old girl needs painting nealrly every year on the front. For £500 big ones is sounds a steal!!!

What are the downsides, does it ruin the paint when you remove it?

Thats because Mikes Kit was an industry Standard KIT (part Bonnet part wings) not full wings full bonnet etc.

Check patterns on websites, also anyone saying they can do full frontal wraps at that price ask them to call me as I will start buying from them if they are pre cut kits, cos I can't make and install from a pre-cut pattern at that price!!! (and we do the designs)

Cheers

Tom

Guam what price can you do for a semi front kit on my 308Dino? I just want the hood and wings doing, will it help stop rust coming?
