I have read a thread about 1.5 years old where seat memory problems with 3200GT were discussed. Unfortutely, this thread dd not discuss my problem specifically. My problem is that the driver seat (the passenger seat works just perfectly) moves forward a centimeter or so when the backrest is tilted forward, and it returns that centimeter to its original position after the backrest is returned to its original position, but it does not go all the way i.e. I want the seat to move all the way forward and all the way back again when I tilt the backrest forward and back again. I would assume this is because the seat memory has "forgotten" where to go when the backrest is tilted forward.

I have tried to disconnect the battery (the battery being discharged was actually the cause of the seat memory problem), but this has not helped. Does anyone know how the reset the seat memory so it recalls to go all the way forward (3200gt, you seemed to have had this problem; did you ever find out how to fix it?).

Was gonna go for tease for a few hours first,

seat memory reset procedure,

1)Put seat in desired driving position,
2)Turn on ignition,
3)Tilt seat forward,
4)With seat still tilted forward, adjust base as far forward as it will go,
5)Tilt seat back,

Seat returns to the desired drive position.

Not sure if it will fix your problem but definately resolved the issue I had, but in truth it was so long ago I cant recall the symptoms on mine.

Good luck and let us know if it solves your probs

Thanks for not teasing too long. I will try this first thing tomorrow morning; will let you know if it works. The really sad thing about all this is that the authorised Maserati dealer for Sweden has no idea how to fix this, thanks for having an idea what you are talking about.

Half way there. The seat now goes all the way forward when the backrest is tilted forward, but when the backrest is tilted back again the seat only moves about a centimeter back. Any ideas?

Sounds like it has lost its memory for the FULL seat travel distance.
Try again except instead of setting the seat in the desired position before you start have it at its fullest rear position. repeat the sequence.
Not sure if it'll work but nothing to lose?

Try again, except travel the seat to its limit in both directions instead of no 4?
try backwards first then forwards, if no good, try forwards first then backwards?

1)Put seat in desired driving position,
2)Turn on ignition,
3)Tilt seat forward,
4)With seat still tilted forward, adjust base as far forward as it will go,
5)Tilt seat back,

Really am just guessing now though!

It is sort of working now; it goes nearly all the way back, but not to the original desired driving position nor all the back. Anyway, it's nearly there, so thanks.
