Speeding ticket???
Discussion
I’m sure this is a subject that been repeated many time so apologies … Just got a Speeding ticket in the post, doing 60 in a 50 according to the letter. I know the road and know the speed limit and on that day I’m sure I wasn’t going that fast (due to a mellow talking book … I know, very rock n’ roll). I read somewhere on here or on another forum about asking to see the calibration of the device that took the reading – if they don’t provide they (the police) can’t prosecute. Is this correct or is it going to get me in more trouble, does anyone have any experience of this? Many thanks in advance
Head to www.pepipoo.com for all the up to date advice regarding this sort of thing that you could ever need.
Check out this book available on the internet called 'The Driver's Survival Guide" Its written by an ex-copper and has loads of info on the do's and don't etc. Got Laser'd about 18m ago for doing a 78 in a 40 (Great West Road), got 6 pts and fine. Looked into the whole calibration check on cams but only problem is if you are in the wrong, the penalty can be a lot worse! In the end, I got myself a good barrister (friend!) and took it on the chin, and it wasn't too bad considering I was looking at a 12m ban at the time!
See if you have any decent mitigating circumstances ie dependants/jobs/communtiy stuff as I was able to use my job (Dentist) to get some brownie points in court.
Do some Google-ing, theres loads of info out there! Good luck!
PS Points aren't the end of the worls, had to pay an extra £60 on top for my insurance (drive a Maserati)!

The problem with laser detectors is that the range on the lasers is so far, that by the time its registered, its probably too late!
The jammers are a different kettle of fish...not sure how legal they are!

The jammers are completely illegal, luckily though they are also used to open remote control garage doors, so that tends to be what they are advertised as!
If you run with your jammer on all the time, you're advertising the fact you've got one which isn't a good idea, if you leave it turned off, by the time you've seen the laser van and turned it on you've been got anyway.
pretty much the best way to use one is to get a Lidatek 100 (or the 200) and combine it with an Origin B2. The Origin controls the jammer, only jamming when it detects a laser signal, and then only for a few seconds.
You have to react quickly, but it should remove any suspicion that the laser operator may have that he's being jammed.
Regarding the "survival handbook" it's pretty much rubbish - 95% of everything in there is completely out of date and irrelevant - don't waste your money.
