Auto Italia day- pretty poor...........

First time I have been- the highlights were special- 2 enzos, a few exotic classics BUT it was so badly organised and a real feeling of them and us betweem the Fiats and Ferraris.
Here's how I'd do it
A map or plan of the site to show where the cars are sited
Far more trade stands- could have been showing off tubis, chip tuning, insurance cos

More classics
Italian food and cappuccino (the crap from the burger stall was so expensive!)
an organiser's stand with info- had no idea how to do the hill climbs etc

I do agree if you arrive late it is nightmare the site really is not big enough for all the cars and should be put into set area's as you say maybe if you paid before you went then they would know how may cars for the event (Italian cars that is ) they would know how many were coming and could organise it better.
I do think that there were a good turn our of cars yesterday and found the heplful and although I did not eat anything there I would go along with the Italian food/coffee bit but I do know that they had pizza inside.
I alao think that if you have an Italian car that the price should be lower for the exibitors.

Thanks for the feedback-I forgot to say that I was disappointed at the lack of Maseratis but was happy to see that a 599 bearing the number plate EHF 1 was there
Actually, I would be pretty honoured to help and will offer to do so (assuming I am not posted abroad).
Just to clarify- this is constructive critisism and I am trying to provide useful suggestions not to simply slag the show off.

There was a map, but it was only a vague indication of where cars could be parked.
I enjoyed taking my car out on the MB handling circuit more than I feared I would.
SL55 pace car gave it some welly on the straight and the rest is so tight and twisty you wouldn't have wanted to go a lot faster by yourself.
The driving made it worthwhile, but I get bored at any sort of "parked car" event anyway.

tell you what was not good...the sign postings were wrong for many..saw it myself! the tea was in the cheapest cups you can make...£1 -1.20!!!the entrance fee is the same if you take an exhibit...your car!! the old entrance has not been relaid..so bad..uneven...WHY WERE WE ALL GROUPED TOGETHER...Lambos n fearretis on the same pitch? ice creams too dear, no instructions when you got there as to what if anything was going to happen...hill climb, fiat 500 all driving round....I still have no idea if Merc was worth looking at...but what was SUPERB...CONCORDE...RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW....THAT PLANE NEEDS TO BE FLYING ITS SUCH A SHAME...GO AND CHECK OUT THE TOUR...
Entrance fee should be waived for exhibitors as is the norm at most events.
Due to a prior commitment I arrived just before noon to be told at the gate that they were full and were not letting anyone else in. After seven cars left we finally persuaded the gate keeper to let three cars in.
Pissup in a brewery springs to mind.
I agree on the 'them and us' comment.
There's a second differential, genuine car enthusiasts V's showoffs, but lets not go there.
Overpriced museum entry, though the gullwings were nice.
I'll have the DK F40GTM thanks, the Enzo's are way too quiet.

Once again!!:
AUTO ITALIA magazine have NO CONTROL over entrance fees to Brooklands and really, really should not be held responsible if ever more people want to come to an event they organise, especially those who leave it until late in the day.
If the (VOLUNTEER!!!) Brooklands staff are not actually empowered to allow more than an official H&S safety quota amount of vehicles in then perhaps a simple full page of AI very issue of the magazine stating simply: ARRIVE EARLY OR PARK WITH THE MERCS! might help and some might even be able to shake themselves into doing just that and perhaps be able to better reconcile the words "Auto Italia Spring Italian Car Day" with that "Me First, Me First, Me First" attitude in some way...
As regards the owners of 'exhibits' being charged to exhibit - remember, that charge applies whether your car is a one-off, hand built, by a team comprising Enzo Ferrari, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Horatio Pagani. Alessandro De Tomaso, St. Francis of Assisi and a couple of more mechanically minded Pope's version of 'God's-own' car or a slightly rustier than average Fiat 126 with missing panels, rear seats and a viable 'steering to the left much' option...
I agree that the tea and tea 'cups' were crap but since the 'Italian restaurant' option vanished a few years ago, you should all know better than to buy food from there - do you actually expect 'quality' fast food that's also cheap ... in Surrey ... and imagine that what you get is anything like good ice cream from a Mr. Whippy... being actually a petroleum glop waste by-product in a bit of aerated cardboard...
Also, only by a cruel twist of fate were 3 of the remaining 5 (?) UK registered Jarama S's not parked next to each other... this was because some very selfish sorts called "hordes of people with cars that aren't a Jarama" neglected to recognise the brilliance of Ferruccio's most preferred creation, (it's fekkin' TRUE!!) and clear an area where they could be seen in all their glory and where it was equally clear that their owners were being paid to be there, could be seen to be eating free truffle omelettes and drinking only the best wine as a further gift for their great kindness in showing the cars to the aforementioned "hordes of etc, etc"
Get real people - Auto Italia yet again organised a great event where we all could eyeball other cars, where all could chat and talk to whoever we wanted to for as long as we wanted to, where the sun came out eventually and where - well, (breath), that sounds like a reasonable deal for a tenner to me...

Did anyone go both to this, and to the Bristol Italian Moto Festival? I would be interested in knowing how the two compare, since they are often on the same weekend and, having been to the Bristol event for the last three years, I might consider doing something different next year if worthwhile.
