is it a normal problem for a 16k early 2004 car to struggle to get into reverse?

Early cars can be a bit stiff to get into reverse. Mine is getting better with the more miles I put on it (20.5K now). If its snatching also into secong when the oil is above 70c potentially the clutch is on its way out.

Andy.

mine is a 05 plate with 6k on the clock and it had the same problem and it was my clutch. Had it replaced and it still isn't smooth but it's certainly easier.

If its a paddle shift put it into 1st gear then try. It should go straight into reverse that way. if its a manual with a button, i have no idea

Assuming you're talking about a manual...

The gearchange is cable operated and there's a very slim chance it may just need adjustment.

More likely... with no synchro on reverse, the gearbox's reluctance is the first sign of excessive clutch wear.

Time to consult your friendly local Lambo dealer, I'm afraid.

Lol thought the same thing.

If its my old car you are on about, the clutch was brand new less than 200 miles ago and was fitted by the guys at Millbrook cars in sheffield. Might be worth contacting them if its not 'right'?
