Ferrari 328GTS
Discussion
Hi everybody!! Am in need of some advice. I am going to test drive two 328GTS cars on Wednesday. One has 42K on clock, 4 owners and is F plate-the other has 31K on clock, 2 owners and is C plate. Both have full service history and are the same price. The C plate is also on a 3 number/3 letter private plate. So, how do I choose? Are there any specific things I should look out for and ask about? This is to be my first Ferrari and I would appreciate your collective help!!Thanks. Nicky

It's all about condition, Other than normal checks for all cars I'd check for rust in the Door bottoms, above the bumper line on the front wings and in front of the rear wheel arches. Make sure front driving lights are not cracked (not made anymore) and Headlights pop up OK. Personally I prefer the look of the concave wheels on the pre '88 Cars but that's just a personal preference, presumably the later car has ABS?
Do both cars have full service history?
Whatever you choose have it professionally inspected before committing

The age difference appears to balance out the mileage difference. The plate is a nice to have but again, worth no more than half a service. If the conditions are both equal then I would probably go for the later car. Not sure what the improvements are between the years on 328s though.
Go with your heart ... and then get it inspected! Condition/service history is king

I have a 16,000 mile 328 and a 355 if I had to sell one it would be the 355. I had both out yesterday my son in the 355, there is hardly anything in the 2 cars up to ***mph but after that the 355 has it. I have not seen Pat H's car in the flesh or ever met him but I followed his posts with interest when he was looking for one, I don't know what price range the 2 cars you mention are in but you should def go and see his car if it is around the same price. I bought privately off an enthuisiast and am more than happy. He will have scoured the country and gone over it in great detail before buying as it is for himself, dealers buy cars in to sell on for profit and will not put the same effort in as a private individual will have done.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.I did indeed look at lots before settling on this one and there certainly are some dogs out there.
I need to sell mine to finance a building project that has gone over budget, otherwise I would be keeping it.
A nice 328 is a wonderful car.
Lottie, did you get my email?

Hi Pat,Yes I got your email thanks. Your car sounds lovely - if a bit out of my price range. Will contact you though if I decide to come and look at your car. My Dad lives in Fleetwood so I am often up that way. Thanks again for your advice. Looking forward to tomorrow-if a bit apprehensive!!
