Edinburgh Lambo got their Demo Superleggera in tonight, and the grey is quite simply stunning, and the carbon inside is awesome!!!

Didn't drive it as I was only popping in for something else and John Cherry showed me the car, started it up and it sounds superb but at £173,000 I think it's a little overpriced for what it is.

Sorry no pics but I might get some this week.

Am I right in assuming that a Lambo dealer can't sell for more than list?

In this case, which options did the car have?

Whilst it looks fantastic on paper and in the pictures, it'd better be damn near fabulous for that sort of money!

Most likely from the 2:1 ER differential (prices are almost like for like, but in one shore it reads $ and in the other Pounds).

You are better off buying a Lamborghini in the EU if you want a cost saving, take a look at the calculations below.

2007 Model Gallardo Spider from US.

255K USD list

127,750 - USD retail price inc sales tax
- 10,858 - state sales tax rebate (for export, assuming NYC rate of 8.5)
1,500 - shipping by sealed container
118,392 - total imported price
11,889 - UK non EU import duty at 10 percent
20,713 - VAT
1,500 - SVA test abd Federak Light Mod changes

152,494 - UK price

Same car imported from Germany:

134,780 - Germany retail price including TVA
21,519 - TVA rebate
113,261 - import price net of tax
19,810 - VAT

133,081 - UK price

FYI Lamborghini have a worldwide sales policy that they price all the cars across the world at the same price in euros, variations in price are accounted for by diferences in sales taxes, the USD spider price net of tax is only 3K diferent to a German car, i checked dealers in Japan,US and all the eurozone countries as well and its the same story across the board.

The actual difference in price between UK cars non UK cars is the premium charged on RHD - the LHD prices are uniformly about 10 percent cheaper across the board in all the other Lamborghini territories.

YOu are better off buying a car from the EU rather than the US as it will have a EU wide certificate of conformity which does not require it go through a SVA test, because lamborghinis are built to federal standards for the US they have to go through one-off type approval.

A Tax paid Gallardo Superleggera comes in at about 148,000 imported from the EU, the same US car will work out 10 percent more because of the import duty and another 1-2 percent to cover SVA and federal light changes.

Apparently you dont pay 10% duty if the product is under 3 years old.

that doesn't apply to motor cars. According to Revenue and Customs Duty and VAT is payable on all imported vehicles both new and used except in the following circumstances:

The importer is moving or returning to the UK;
The importer has lived at least 12 months outside the European Union (EU);
The importer has possessed and used the vehicle for at least six months outside the EC before its importation;
The vehicle is tax-paid and declared to Customs officers on arrival and
The vehicle is for the importer’s personal use, and will not be sold, lent, hired out or otherwise disposed of in the EU within 12 months, unless Customs authority is first granted.

Has anyone got any experience of trying to get a RHD car from a non-UK EU dealer?

I've bought other new cars from Europe and its very easy. If you look on mobile.de you will see that you can buy a fully loaded SL in RHD for around £160k all in, September delivery. Thats around £12k cheaper than UK prices. They also have a RHD spyder in stock which seems quite cheap for £154k seeing as it has a lot of options inc nav/tv/ceramics.

So is 133K for a RHD or a LHD?

Let's say EU sourced Lambo is 15% cheaper , it will not have the same warranty and will be worth more than 15% less than a UK car come resale.

You've confused me now Johnny, because a few posts up you mention you put an order in for a US car, so i'm not sure why you think that would be worth more than a EU car.

The price i quoted was for a LHD car, not a RHD car to highlight the 15-20 percent premium we are paying for RHD UK cars.

Of course your car will be always worth less, but that wasn't my pointm my point was the fact the UK is the only country that carries this RHD premium pricing.
