german autobhan

Nearly all of the autobahn (in fact, I believe all of it) has a recommended speed limit of 130km/h. If you would like to drive above that, you can, but you have to do so in a safe manner i.e. don't drive stupidly fast police cars in the pouring rain in rush hour!

True, however if the weather conditions are bad (heavy rain) this advisory speed limit becomes the maxmimum speed limit, so in bad weather it's max. 130 km/h.The signs showing a maximum speedlimit (of 130) look similar to the British ones (round with a red border), the roads were the 130 km/h is the advisory but not the maximum speed limit looks like this :

Advisory (but not maximum) speed limit
Be awere that when your speed is over 150 km/h (93 mp/h) and you're involved in an accident which isn't your fault your insurance can still blame you for a percentage of the dagmage.
Have fun!
