gallardo owners - can anyone advise where do I get this AGIP Tecsint 5w40?

(and don't say LHW - I wouldn't have to ask if they'd actually delivered on their promises)

Thankyou!

Not sure, i had a similar problem, so topped up with Esso Ultron, apparently this is ok as its used by HR Owen on the services. This was available from my local Esso petrol station!

Give me a pm and I'll tell you where to get this oil from.

And PLEASE, do not top up your Lambos with ANYTHING else. There is a very good reason why Lamborghini recommends Agip oil only.

Cheers,

Rutboy.

Whats wrong with something like Motul 300v or Silkolene Pro 5W-40? I top up with Motul 300v 5W-40.

I believe both these oils are superior to any product produced by Agip? They both surpass all existing standards.

The oil recommended in my manual states the AGIP 2000 and a 20W-50 for sport use, and Lamborghini UK told me to use ANY high quality fully synthetic 5W-40.

I can't see the how a product made by AGIP to comply with so many different manufacturer's standards can be any better than any other oil that meets or exceeds those same standards.

Alan I couldn't agree more..
Remeber Lamborghini authorised a new oil pump for the Murcie cos when it was hot the oil pressure light kept lighting? Engine out job - 14k of warranty work and it was still the same. Stuck agip in it like you say and oil pressure back to normal.
Not a coincidence either - the Murcie pictured in the other thread at Elvington had exactly the same problem. Stuck Agip in and hey presto problem solved!

Simon,

What oil were you using when you had the oil pressure problems? Its sounds like the oil lost its film strength.

It was what both Lambo London & Manchester use - Esso Ultron synthetic. They don't use Agip cos they couldn't source it then. Believe they can get it now but don't think its used regularly.

I think it is against the law to make you use what they recommend (anti-competition laws) so long as what you use meets the required specifications by the manufacturer.

Looking at my database the recommended oil for the Gallardo 2003 onwards is a 5w-40 meeting ACEA A3, this will be a synthetic oil either petroleum or synthetic based.

As regards to the Agip, I would very much doubt that it is the best quality oil in the world but sight of the HTHS and Noack numbers would give us a clue.

More likely you will find that there are commercial interests involved!

Are there better oils and can you use them? Without doubt in my opinion but your friendly Lambo Dealer may disagree with me.

Cheers

Sorry, forgot to mention.

IF you track your Gallardo, I would look for a track quality oil so definately the likes of Silkolene Pro S or Motul 300V as you are taking risks with the standard recommended oils.

Ok, all I am going to say is that again, there is a very good reason why ONLY Agip oil should be used in Lamborghinis, there is also a very good reason why HR Owen don't use it.

I would love to say more, but as usual, I can't. PM if you want to know more, but please don't put anything other than Agip in your Lambo.

Cheers,

Alan.

What an amazing product, so in theory if I were to buy some for my car (not a Lambo) what is so special about it?

Hopefully a generic repsonse not actually mentioning a specific car company shouldn't get too many people in trouble? wink

I stick to manufacturuers recommendations, on the basis that if anything goes wrong, they can't use it as an excuse.

I only use AGIP.

Same goes for Pirelli.

I seem to remember you can buy AGIP oil change kits via E-bay. If you supply it, the dealer will use it.

Just seen this thread. I've been looking since buying my Countach and found a site selling all the AGIP products, including Tecsint. I don't know what they're like to deal with as I haven't had to yet. Link here anyway : AGIP supplier in UK

Hi Alan

So the fact i put 3/4 litre in to top up should not cause an issue should it?? or do i need to drain and refill??

And from that website is this the correct oil then?

AGIP Tecsint SL
