I just bought a 550, and got a lot of useful replies to a similar question.

Tifosi's thread really does cover it all. The one opinion that is missing from that and all similar posts, is that not one person has ever said 'don't do it'. That has to be a first and speaks volumes, considering the usual disparity of views aired on these forums!
The 550 is a truly fabulous car. Had mine for 18 months now, and love it.

ok , i am sold on the idea. want to be able to keep my 993 turbo for the mo as well, but of course would consider a good P/X. anyone selling a good one at the moment? i have seen a few around the 40k mark recently. but am looking for the grigio titanium colour. let me know if anyone out there knows of a good one at a good price. would prefer to purchase from an enthusiast if possible. already spoken to a few dealers who do not sound such pleasant characters!!

over about 3 years had some little niggles with blown hoses but nothing to worry about..included couple of trips to south of france...compare interior to 360 and even though 550 cheaper ,you can see why it cost 50k more new...def a sense of occasion car...

Why has the 550 depreciated faster than the 360? I gather its because its front engined but that doesnt seem like a good reason to me?>

The 360 is a first "must have" Ferrari..ie when you are new to the Marque and want to live the dream (ie mid engined-red and very low etc).

The 550 is for the less flash "already had Ferraris" hence it looks and sells better in subtle colours like silver and grey and looks a bit odd in red. Its for real purists who are buying a Ferrari for more than the car being merely a Ferrari.

There are more of the first category of buyer and hence demand for 360s is higher and therefore depreciation is lower. (AND I'M ONE OF THEM!!)

Good news for me, then. I prefer the 550 look out of all the modern Ferraris (even over the 575, and it has to be a coupe not the Barchetta). smile

git. I'm a few years off from one. For a start, I'll need a driveway that won't scrap the nose every time I drive on and off it. I could park it on the road I guess. wobble

I daren't. Maybe in your neighbourhood, Ferraris are more common than Fiestas. Here it's the other way round.

Nervous.. Still a few more details to confirm and also work out how to make it sound louder!

evil glad to hear it ('scuse the pun). There's a vid somewhere of the Tubi vs Larini vs Capristo. You could go down the bespoke route - I am about to test a company in West London.

They reckoned only to do the back boxes, as anything is just too over the top - what do you think?
