With all the new fangled CRP monocoque cars comming out I was wondering as you do on a Friday, about their good and and bad points.

Clearly they're not going to rust / corrode so could they be around for ever?

However it's quite well know that fibreglass ages, and from my brief rummage on the internet, so does CRP.
Witness the fate of the Kroyman's F1 car Frits Kroymans clipped the barrier with the right front wheel and the nose sheered off. The guy was not injured but could have been nasty....

Just thought I'd share before you order your Caparo / SLR / Carrera GT / Enzo.....

With regard to crash structure the McLaren SLR is the only car in the world (or at least was!) to have a Carbon Fibre crash structure and I can't see Mercedes letting it be produced with a weak or potentially unsafe structure...
It certainly depends on the quality of the CFP i.e. Autoclave temperatures and pressures as to how safe it is.

I assume with care they could be around forever!
With regards to those pictures, that looks frankly terrifying!!
