Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone - pictures and review
Discussion
Hi there,
Took the day off work and went to Silverstone for the first day of the Ferrari Racing Days event.
I saw peoples pictures from the various rounds last year and could not wait for the event to finally come to the UK.
I have organised full Media Accreditation for the weekend so that meant I was able to go just about anywhere around the track and pits today.
For anyone planning on going you will not be disappointed, this will be a fantastic event and well worth attending.
I planned to start off in the paddock as I knew there would be plenty to see, but first I had to get some shots of this stunning 599 in the car park :-

My guess is that it belongs to Nathan Kinch (Scuderia Ecosse FIA GT driver) judging by the plate.
Then onto the paddock: -

All told I counted 8 x 599 GTB's today. Three in Red, One Silver, Two Black, One Grey and One Blue. All of the them had the Challenge wheels seems that the Pentagrams are not popular.
After the paddock I had a wander round the pits. The highlight for me was the chance to have a good close up look at the Ferrari FXX's. There are 8 x FXX's attending this weekend including Five in Red, One Black, One Blue and One Yellow.

The are a large amount of Corse Clienti cars at Silverstone this weekend, will be great to see them out on track on Sunday.

Back to the paddock and a little suprise not a Ferrari but superb none the less.

Then I wandered out to the track to catch some of the F430 racing: -

Bruno Senna is making a guest appearance in one of the Ferrari UK cars

Even in qualifying the drivers can over cook it

Then stayed to watch some of the historics, loads of nice cars but the Maserati Birdcage has to be my favourite.

Finally this shot, I think this sums up whats in store for the weekend: -

Hope you like the review, I took over 870 pics today and whats shown here is just a small sample. I will be back at Silverstone on Sunday to see the FXX'x and F1 cars out on track and hopefully get some good shots of the F40 parade.
Regards
Tim

What a fantastic day. Been able to get up close and personal to so many fantastic cars was a real treat. Where else could you watch the 430 Challange race from the pit wall, all for £15. Don't know if we were allowed to be there, but no one tried stopping us!
High light of the day I'm afraid was seeing a Veron in the flesh for the first time!! However, said hello to Jay Kay.

What a bloody fantastic day! A dream now fulfilled: driving the Silverstone for the very first time and in my own Ferrari!
A big
and
to fellow PH'er and neighbour Simonigrale for sorting us out with the tickets - we are in your debt sir!
Spent most of yesterday giving the car a bit of a clean so we didn't let the side down and it was well worth the effort and looked very shiny

There's something faintly obscene and pornographic about that many Ferraris in one place, you hardly know where to look!

Plenty of pics of nice cars have been posted, but here are a couple of mine (the pics, not the cars
)

So we joined the queue for the parade lap and spent a while inching forward while the temperature gauge crept worryingly upwards...

Still, had plenty of time to wander about making a nuisance of ourselves before the lap started.

The delectable Ace-T (aka Mrs Judas) sporting a stylish hat

Oh, and in case you're wondering what seven million quid looks like, it looks like this:

Lovely photos of Irvine Laidlaw's GTO Judas!
I'm not really a Ferrari fan but a friend racing her old Maserati and promising to bring her Superfast 500 (my favourite Ferrari) tempted me up there. So-o-o-o glad I went, the whole Ferrari spirit/atmosphere was overwhelming. It was breathtaking, an extraordinary day!

HIghlights included seeing the Superfast:

Have to admire a lady who enjoys taking care of the oily bits too

The '51 Maserati A6.

Stirling Moss autograph on his old Maserati 250F:

The 250F in action in the old-timer race:

The '51 A6 in action:

One of the Red Baron's old motors - whoever was doing laps in these in the afternoon was on it, fantastic!

Fell in love with the FXXs - AWESOME machines!!

Dead chuffed to find a Sagaris in the paddock, lurking at the back.
Spent most of yesterday in tears (of joy I might add). Saw so many beautiful cars the old hormones couldn't cope. I have to admit the old girls are my favourites, and to able to walk amongst some of the rarest, priciest cars in the world was a great experience. My teenage love for the F40 came flooding back when 43 of them took to the track, and the sea of red peppered with the odd blue, yellow, grey etc was fab. I even saw my first green Dino.
A wonderful day - it was great to be surrounded (mostly) by people with the same love and passion for cars.

Glad you liked my car - It attracted far more interest than I expected. Anyone doing the Owners Club Tours of Spain might see a bit more of it!

In Ferrari red! Shame about the signwriting on the truck behind it - I had to "defend its honour" from a couple of wag's comments!
