Without wanting incite hatred on this thread, I've recently read '00 360's with around 25k on the clock are valuing in the TRADE at a number beginning with £4Xk.

Anyone know any knocking around? Thinking about taking the plunge again and fancy a 360 this time round.

Once found, I'd get it PPI'd locally and go from there so no worries about buying stupidly.

I'm just after some good leads?!

oh, ps. Manual, RHD (if at all poss), mid £40's is a good number, not bothered after that too much.

pps. Also looking at 996 Turbo's at the same price range.

Anyone?!?!

See my response on Porsche board- the 360s (and infact any expensive sports cars) are massively undervalued at trade vs retail due to the large bid/offer spread demanded by dealers - Its dealers basically saying they do not want to tie up big money in stock. Most exotica doesnt get sold at anywhere near the "trade" price-instead they are Sale or Returned at a much higher price or indeed even sold privately. So whilst the car may be £45k "in the trade" - it will be retailed at £60k- if a trader is lucky enough to buy at £45k he will not pass on the saving. However, its rare a seller will ever accept this trade price and the trader will more than likely offer SOR at say £53k and still retail the car at £60k but with less risk to himself and less stocking costs.

In fact the info you read re £4xk was placed by a poster on this Board and the seller did exactlty what I have described here. He wanted to sell his 360 but felt it better to hang on to it at the trade bids and did so and put the car on SOR. I eventually bought it for a reasonable price which was at least £8k below what dealers were retailing similar cars for. So it was a win win all round

Kamal you are indeed correct

i wasnt offered any trade bids on my car only aprox amounts from idiot traders who never even asked colour milage or spec they bidded about 45 k but its just a statement for them to say they arnt interested.

most cars of this ilk are indeed SOR id say the sale price for this kind of car 2000 with under 25 k etc etc is between 55 and 60 k depending on where it is bought from.

but il make this offer to all the clever people who think they can buy cars v cheap ! if anyone can offer me a mint 360 with under 18 k miles with FSH in rosso, uk car etc etc for less then 45 k il have it.

some how dont think il get any firm offers.

proper cars cost the proper price im afraid

I swapped my 996 GT3 for a 360 Spider last August. The Ferrari's a prettier car, much nicer interior, more roomy (I'm 6' 5" ) and is just much more of an experience to drive. The noise it makes is fantastic. The handling's quite different, the Ferrari feels more like a go kart - much more direct, pointy steering without any of the nose bobbing about you get on 911s. However if I were really pressing on I'd feel happier doing it in the GT3 - the rear end is very easy to break loose on the 360 and you just get that feeling it's waiting to swap ends if you take any liberties.

It amuses me when people ask about trade prices on cars. Unless you're in the trade, you're looking at the wrong benchmark.

As has been said, the spread on cars like this is large, and when you think about it for 5mins you'll realise why. Capital tied up, time to sell, potential warranty issues, buyers insisting on cars being 100% spot on and even small things potentially costing a lot to sort. Before you even thiink about acquiring your purchases as a business, paying tax, making profit etc.

I'm by no means sticking up for dealers here as there are plenty of cowboys (main dealer network included). But some of the difficulties are real.

As much as I don't rate the 360, you are not going to find a decent spec/colour, good condition RHD 360 for anything that starts with a 4. And you definitely don't want to buy one that isn't in good condition (if you fancy having a tough time selling one, iffy spec/colour might not be as much of a problem).

Also, don't be lured in by the "cheap" buy prices of these sorts of car (any car of this type. It's not unique to Ferrari). You will be buying a "cheap" car that listed in 6 figures. It's servicing and maintenance costs will be commensurate with that level...

oh just to keep people in line, i've purchased and run a 355 previously, so am aware of the potential pitfalls.

i'm just more curious as to whether or not it is possible to acquire a 360 for a number beginning with £4...

...ps, looking for long term ownership and ability to put miles on as opposed to jumping out now....

As noted, I don't believe it is if you're to buy a decent car.

Forget trade prices. Unless you're a trader, you're not buying at trade. And having bought previously, you know the spread.

You might get a leggy LHD in green with patchy service history. Or perhaps a Cat car. But if you want one for the long term, you'd have to be damn sure you were comfy with these compromises.

Having owned before, you'll also know that you end up paying at one point or another with these cars. So far better to buy the very best car at the spec you want from the off.

Good luck with your search. If you want to find a decent car, talk to Dion at Elms. But don't go wasting everyone's time asking him the trade price unless your name's Arthur and you have a liking for sheepskin wink
