This is my way of introducing myself to the forum having just joined and I have to start wth a big thankyou for all of the advice that I have already received. Unfortunately I ignored most of it and am now the proud possessor of an F355. I am pretty sure that I have made some thundemental mistakes and would be grateful for any serious comment regarding a sticky throttle. Thanks in advance....

I believe a sticky throttle is quite common and easy to sort. I'll let one of the experts explain how though. If you're not already signed-up, head over to http://www.clubscuderia.com/forum/index.php and http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ where you'll find answers to everything you can think of asking!

Mitch T. not sure how this works so it might come across a bit gushing but thank for you response. The biggest problem with the throttle is that everyone says it is a problem but I have not yet seen the black and white of how to fix it or how much it will cost me.

I am aware of other issues with throttles, but this is worth a look. Mine stuck open a couple of times and was told that it could be to do with my gravel drive !! Unscrew the plate at the base of the pedal and clean any debris that may have come up the hole that you can now see the road through! Mine had a piece of polystyrene packaging (that i guess is used whilst the car is being delivered new) floating around near the pedal... occasionally it got stuck under the pedal and jammed the throttle open.

Mate I say this somwhat embrassingly but I found the solution from another guy on fcars who did the same thing. Mine was sticking and the problem was eventually traced to the carpet riding forward under braking and jamming up against the bottom of the accelerator. Could be worth a quick check to see the carpets are secured properly.

Thanks guys. I don't think it is the carpet as the main symptom is that it is just very heavy after about the first fifth of travel rather than staying stuck to the floor (had that problem in a Citroen once it was the tread on the rubber mat). Will get on to the garage though and get them to strip it down and regrease it all and if no joy their get on to Verdi's to sort it. Would like to try to get it fixed for free first though through the garage that sold me the car!

Exactly the same thing happened to me at the end of the Revett Straight at Snetterton. Twice eek

In my case it was gravel.
