Hi chaps,

Just want to check I am not getting ripped off here!

My 2004 gallardo went in to HR Owen in London 2 days ago. The clutch is 80-90% worn (I was having problems getting it into reverse). They are qutoing me 4400 + VAT to have a new clutch fitted. 5200 for a new clutch seems a tad expensive even for a super car! Does anybody have any reasons for Lambo charging so much more for thier clutches than ferrari? From what i have read 360 clutches are about 2k!?

Thanks

John

the clutch costs 50 quid. the service department spend the rest of the money on lapdancers (10+vat for 4 minutes, about the same rate as a Maranellos Service)

only joking of course. supercars have to cost a kings ransom to run to stop poor people from driving them. otherwise they wouldnt be supercars

its supply and demand, if ford sells 10000 clutches a year it stands to reason it needs to make less profit on each, and to remain competetive it has to price them lower. a Lamborghini is in a market all of its own, so they can price what hte market will stand. plus you have to factor in the fact lambo have fewer customers than ferrari, there dealers do less trade due to fewer customers but they sitll have to pay london tech rates, rents, and costs but divided amongst fewer customers.

I promise you, look at lambos books, they have rarely been profitable, your marks and spencers sandwhich is more of a rip off than your clutch.

Probably cheaper to drive to Italy and have it done at the factory. I heard labour rates in Italy were much lower.

What version of clutch is that?

Have you tried Saj @ Manchester, although Manchester are part of HR Owen I believe.

But got to be worth a try he is a very good guy.

Just had mine done by Verdi "and the boys!"
He charged me retail for the clutch (showed me the invoice) About £1,400 Odd. then he charged me £1,000 plus vat for fitting!! Not the most organised place in the world, put they did a great job, and are real enthusiasts!!
Transformed my car! (Although you may get tempted to remove the Cats @ the same timeideaidea)
I also got quotes from main agents, going by the work they have done on my car so far i know were i would rather send my car?!!!
