Lamborghini Urraco
Discussion
I am trying to gain some more infomration about Lamborghini Urracos but I dont have a clue where to start.
I am looking for model history. points of interest. +/-'s.
I am also interested to know which dealers I should go to re: stock. Are there many available in the UK now? How much? Expectations etc etc
Thanks in advance

buy j-f marchet's book 'lamborghini urraco and the v8's'
if you can stretch to a p300, do so.
avoid the p200 italian home-market version
DO NOT buy a car that hasn't been checked by a marque specialist.
a good urraco is a stunning sportscar that represents fabulous value for money in today's inflated market - a bad one will break your heart
good luck

ay up!

As David Sherman says - buy the BEST you can afford - although I reckon one of the very, very few 2 litre Urraco Italian tax-break cars would be just as much fun as any other, if you didn't want to make tarmac melt, much and
as David Watkinson says - knowing what is the BEST you can afford means joining LCUK although there's no need to start by nagging the Chairman - he's looking after both his Espadas, his Urraco, someone else's Espada, a Diablo and my Jarama, so you might want to give him a couple of minutes before you contact him!
Like any older Lamborghini, there aren't many Urracos, (good, bad or indifferent) around and having access to the history of each car in some way and perhaps to the previous owners will make a great difference to the experience of owning one.
Any Urraco and any V8 engined Lamborghini or indeed, any Lamborghini at all rewards care and diligence with the most intense driving and owning experience - purchase a bad 'un and you run the risk of being deeply disappointed.
You can download your application form to join LCUK from our website:
www.lamborghiniclubuk.com
and to repeat: before buying any older Lamborghini, join LCUK FIRST!
my number is on the website on the contacts page, as indeed all the committee members details are... so, speak soon?

My P250 S was great car, looked superb and had decent performance for a '74 car. Brakes were never great but an Urraco isn't about speed, more about style. Mine was a good condition car but by no way perfect. As said above if I was doing Urraco's again I would go for the best I could afford.
I suffered from minor electrical probs through years of dodgy alarms / stereos being fitted and removed. Wipers were erratic, lights were feeble etc etc
All in I loved the car and only sold it to get a Testarossa. If you find the right car then go for it. The 308GT4 / Urraco / Merak era does it for me.

To the Davids and ButtMonkey - Thank you
I have been running my daily commuter for a while now and saved up some money. I was going to get a great day car (Elise style) but I believe that I will get much more from a 308/Urraco in the garage and not have the worry of the daily grinder costing me the world to keep on the road and fuel.
With a 308/Urraco I will have a truly great car and an enjoyable ownership experience. I hope this will also lead onto better things in the future.
I am in no rush at all and with a genuine lack of knowledge my first port of call is reading everything available to me.
Can I throw a question out to the PH Ferrari/Lambo members >>. 308 or Urraco?

Let's see...
Ferrari 308 v Lamborghini Urraco
relatively common v extremely rare
hard to get out of junctions due to lack of assistance from anyone v open-mouthed adulation and "please, after you sir" attitude
'least of marque' v 'amongst the most loved of marque'
F PH'ers (so far) lack of response v L PH'ers (so far) friendly and welcoming response
racing programme cash supporting car v passion for existence car
prancing pony v raging bull
(probably) no friends yet in F club v already have friends in LCUK
come on!

Brightwells are auctioning a LHD P300 tomorrow http://www.brightwells.com/classiccars/Catalogue/t... and Barons have a RHD P250 in their 31st July auction http://www.barons-auctions.com/entry.php?pageid=59 Both look very cheap, maybe too cheap, both good colours, I really love the colour of the Brightwells car.

Bloody hell they are cheap! As you say....perhaps a little too cheap!Edited by MG511 on Tuesday 10th July 15:25
Both the cars are listed with GUIDE PRICES only!!
The yellow car has been lounging about for a while now (but mostly seems OK) and as for the P300, I'd say that car needs a good 15-20K spending on it to make it properly useable
they aren't 'suspiciously cheap' - either as guide prices or actual prices... they aren't Ferraris so you won't be having to buy the perception that Ferraris are in some way more valuable, especially at this level!!

yep - that blue 250 is for sale... as any visitor the LCUK website would know...
it's a decent car, honest and (mostly) trustworthy, never been over-sure about those wing mirrors tho'! and, crucially, NOT an auction car
also, what's being said about the (mostly) American people who use Lambochat all being 'loudmouthed yankees' and linking that with Lamborghini ownership is pushing something a bit too far imho - I know a few members of the Lamborghini club in the US mostly good ol' boys (but no Confederate flags!!) and very keen on the marque and it's values and integrity

both auction cars are P250's
Brightwels have changed the description of their car, they did state it was a P300 previously. Both cars obviously only have guide prices, as you'd expect prior to an auction, but they give a strong hint as to what the reserves are.Edited by urraco on Tuesday 10th July 21:53
don't know about Magnums and 308's (chocolate ice cream and Ferraris...???) (OK, I know what you mean really) (do you have a dodgy actor with 'tash fetish?)
but
re. James May and Urraco's
THE FULL STORY of 'that' incident with the black Urraco, the Dino and the Merak is rather more complex (surprise!) than the moments seen on Top Gear the other year.
If anybody wants the actual story about that car, it's last real owner and that programme - send me an email, I think I've got chapter and verse including the day after the screening when the ex-owner's wife called me to say she'd never seen her husband as depressed in their 28 years of marriage (even though he was dying of cancer) and somewhere in the vaults I've got the email from one of Clarkson's servants promising that the feature would be very pro-Lambo...
