I am writing this from my Hotel room at the Nurburg ring track. It was a bloody nasty rainy day today but i went round anyways (Nurburg camera still is 11.15 of me waiting to go on track) I bought a 4 lap ticket and went on regardless of the crappy rain, i thought the sun would be shining like yesterday. On my 4th lap i spun the Spider and it did a 360 and a half and just stoped short of the Aramcosmilesmile I thought the car was dammaged for sure. But another 355 spider was not so lucky as he smashed his front and rear on what i think was his first lap. I have the pictures of the car before and after which i will post up Tuesday if anyone wants to look. There were quite a few smashes today at the ringfrown

You did a 360 in a 355 scratchchin glad you didn't damage anything! Rain is probably not the nicest weather to nuzzle about with physical limits for a car. Will you return when it's dry?

You were very lucky to get away with your spin mate!

It's awesome there though isn't it? I was there with the Elise a few weeks ago. thumbup

2 of our group were not so lucky and ended up with panel damage...

Bet the 355 is getting some attention smile

There is so much rubber on the track around the N'Ring that when it rains is becomes very very slippery.
In the rain it is good to try out the wet racing line, but you do have to cross the slippy line at some points and this is where it is tricky.

plus the years of oil, mud, diesel, petrol, grass, tree sap, coolant etc seem to make it like an ice rink once water is added.

We saw a crash last year and stopped to help, and it was so slippy standing up was difficult. It made me think...

I was at the ring on Saturday (in my Maser 4200), and it does sound like we had the best weather of the weekend. It was wet for a few hours in the morning so I did a couple of gentle sighting laps, but then it cleared for the rest of the day and I had some great, relatively traffic free laps in the afternoon.

The 4200 performed superbly - more secure and enjoyable than my E46 M3 was round there. The brakes and steering are better, barely a trace of understeer, and it is surprising how early you can get back on the power - all mixed in with that fabulous soundtrack of course!

No Italian supercars (Lambo, Ferrari, Maserati etc) except for me that day, but there was a gaggle of classic Alfas (GT juniors and the like) which looked stunning, and who were circulating mightily fast!

Amazing place, but sobering to see so many accidents, including a maxpower'd 3 series right infront of me. I backed off to let him go by as he was driving somewhat erratically, and sure enough two corners later he had slammed it broadside into the barriers...

Sorry to hear you spun but glad to hear you did no damage. looked out for you but missed you I think though on sunday morning I did see a 355 pootling back from the GP circuit to Nurburg, was that you?

I didn't go out on Sunday because the guy in the Hotel said that all I would see even in a 4wd drive would be: earth, sky, earth, sky, barriers, wallet.

seems he may have been right

You you always have somethin useful to say mate. Beats half the bollox that normally goes on! :-) I think if I went I would be poodling around the track bricking myself that I would knock it. What is the situation on insurance? Im guessing the normal insurance wont cover it?

Why on earth did you go out when it was so wet? Its like swimming with sharks with a gaping wound spilling blood every where! It will bite you, you're lucky you only spun it.
