I think this 355 is overpriced. Is it?
Discussion
I do like this car and I have viewed it a couple of times.
1996 P FERRARI F355 GTB
38000 Miles, Canna du Fucile Metallic with Bordeaux Hide, Black Carpets, Adjustable Suspension, Power Steering, Climate Control, ABS, Twin Airbags, Challenge Rear Grille, Tracker, Tool kit, CD Autochanger, Full Service History, Beautiful Example .
Price: £43,000.
I think this is too high for the following reasons:
1. Colour is simply gorgeous and has to be seen to be appreciated, but resale will be a problem. Most people want their Rosso Crema. Current owner is experiencing just that. Its been around for months.
2. Mileage. Its closing in on 40k. While I am happy to look at something that has been used (I prefer that), the value of the car does fall as a result. Again, resale will be tough at 50,000 miles or so when I am done with it.
3. Cambelt service due next year as well.
For these reasons, I think the car is at an inflated price. My feeling is that it should be priced just above £36k?
Look forward to hearing from the more learned amongst us!

IMO dude dont buy a 355 worrying about future resale values, buy it cause ya love it. Leave the worrying of depreciation to F430 owners
If IYO the price is to high on that car or any other car you have seen then buy another cheaper one. If people are prepared to pay between 40 and 50 grand and more!! then the prices will always be over 40K.
Many complain about the high prices of 355s and 360s, but some one buys them at more or less the asking price especially from showrooms. And these cars are usually found in dealers show rooms were trusting future owners lay down there cash thinking that just because they are buying a nice shiny ferrari from an official ferrari show room. Then all must be well
But on the flip side playing hard ball can work out some times. My red/cream spider with 36k miles for instance was advertised at 56K 3 years ago, but after some on the spot haggling i got it for 48K. So there are deals out there for every serious buyer.
Good luck in your quest.

Defo over-priced compared to whats out there at the moment - slightly off topic but there is the odd 360 under £50k on the Autotrader.

Is that Ferrari speak for Metallic Black? If so, that is one sexy car mate, haggle like a man on holiday in Thailand and buy it! In my opinion, the black/red combo is the most sexiest! It took me about 6m of searching until I found a black/red Maserati Spyder! If that car was a Spyder, mate, I would have bought it before you by now!
Re: Running costs, one thing i've learnt that these cars need TLC/Attention all the way, if you skip on this then you're proabably better of with a Porsche/Fast BMW. The fact it needs new belts soon doesn't necessarily mean big bills as independants like Verdi's can do that with the engine in situ/or cheaper than the equivalent price from main dealer. The only place that would chuck in a service etc is a Main Dealer and then you'd probably be looking to spend that much anyway.
The relative cost of a used Ferrari is quite subjective. What could be a bargain could turn out to be a money pit after! I'm sure the dealer is open to an offer as business is business and a car sitting on the lot isn't making money for him or her. Plus the prices of F355's are fairly stable now so you could possible sell it later for not too much of a loss! The only way (I feel) to buy a Ferrari and sell it for the same price would be to buy a brand spanking new one and sell it 6m after.
My advice: Haggle and get a good price. Get the belts/service done and that is one sorted motor!
Slightly off topic: The fact some owners buy and sell cars inbetween service intervals has proably made a certain percentage of Ferrari type cars out there crap as they sound as if they aren't being looked after properly! What do other think?

From memory this car has been there for a while but don't forget it's probably on sale or return so the owner is likely to be setting the price rather than the dealer.
Talk to the dealer, explain where you're coming from and see if you can come to a deal. Looks a great colour combination in my opinion!
