If it’s true I guess it’s an LP640 “Jota” with the W16 engine – that will really piss off the Veyron owners

Wouldn't such a car (with assuming €1m of pace and speed) need to be essentially a Veyron? No way that VAG would re-engineer all of that (VERY costly) research into a new car?

Or is it to try and regain some of the development costs of the Veyron?

Shirley all of the legwork has been done though? Which metals to use where, how much downforce is needed at 250 mph etc etc etc...

I seem to recall that a HUGE factor of the Veyron was the sheer air they needed to control; both in terms of downforce/lift as well as engine cooling with the radiators and the engine "out-air" at the back; so styling it very differently would, I'd wager, be very difficult.

Interesting to see what they can do though! Any source for this story or links etc?!

Just a thought, but why would they have to re-engineer anything at all? And why would it piss off Veyron owners?

If the lump fits in the space available (wouldn't have thought it hugely wider than the current V12), and enough air can be had to keep it cool (easily done I would have thought), why not just drop it in as is, detune it slightly (850bhp seems like a decent enough number?) and job done.

Tart the inside up a bit and you have a nice run out special to bide time for an all new car?

I doubt VAG will ever want Lambo to be the technical tour de force the Bug is. The nature of Lambos is more raw than that I think.

Wouldn't need to have the same power though to be a step up from the LP640.

And I guess to some, the Veyron is a decent looking piece of kit. I'd also imagine it to be much better screwed together/feel that bit more special inside, but haven't been up close to one.
