Gallardo warning light
Discussion
Every now and then i get the yellow/orange warning light shaped like an engine block come on. The display between the dials displays banks 1-5 and 6-10 alternately. I mentioned this to LHW before the service, but they say no fault has been logged and as it is intermittent, they have no way of telling what the problem is.... they need to see the car with the light on. Since it comes on at random and then only stays on for a few minutes, this is a bit tricky. Not overly happy with their explanation ... any advice/experience from you guys ??
Julian.
Most CEL warnings turn out to be spurious, if there are no other symptoms (i.e. reduced power, idling problems, etc).
If you have the time, disconnect the battery, leave it for 20 minutes, reconnect and leave for another 20 minutes, then turn the ignition on.
The car will reset and clear any non-permanent fault conditions.
Occasionally you may get an ESP light come on (which goes away as soon as the car moves) and sometimes the central locking goes inactive for a few minutes.
This isn't the sort of thing a dealer will tell you about but it's a tried and tested fix and it does work.
Good luck.

I used to get this warning light too Jules, I used to shit myself when it came on and get the car straight over to LHW....by which time the warning light had corrected itself. Each time they plugged in the diagnostics and found nothing.
It happened once when I was in Cheshire so I called Saj at Lambo Manc and he asked me to undo the petrol cap, let the air pressure out and then the fault went straight away (cant remember the exact explanation but it was something to do with an airlock in the fuelling system etc)
Dont worry about it....its just one of those characterful italian car electrics things!

Not sure if i am imagining it, but it seems to happen in hot weather. Could this be the same thing ie air pressure in the fuel tank as it expands when warm ?
It only ever happened when it was a hot day for me too Jules. You could be onto something there.....Saj at Lambo Manc knows all about this glitch, give him a call Mosi said:
