Try Grimaldi Engineering in Halstead. I haven't been but they seem to have a decent reputation, however, the prices on their website don't seem too much different to what I've been paying at the main dealer (25% off as the car is over 5 years old.)

I often take parts to there smile Foskers at Brands hatch also look very good, always lots of toys there being worked on, F40s, F50s, Gallardos, the full works.

You might also try JD Classics in Maldon, as an alternative to Terry, it's worth a look anyway at some of the machinery in there! smile

Do I understand you're not happy with Lancasters @ Colchester...? Strange. Usually their service dept is very good (unlike other official dealers) so unless you have had a serious issue...

Of course you can save some coppers going Indie; Grimaldi has had great revs (ask Nigelo 'bout that) and is in the nighbourhood. Closeness to Eurospares could be a plus.

Hi chaps,

No dissatisfaction with main dealer, it just happens that I will be in that neck of the woods next week and need a clutch change done at some point soon for my GranSport. Indies can do the work for £1200-1300, dealerships rarely charge less than £1700. There's no indie that can do it in the Bristol area, hence my keenness to avail of travelling to the SE on work petrol expenses!

Cheers

Have a chat with the guys at Lancasters... a few years ago i need a major service and some other work on a 355.. lancasters quoted £4,100 ... a good indie quoted £2,100, so i booked it in. Lancasters then called me back to remind me i hadn't booked my annual service, i told them why ... they called me back 10 mins later offering to do the work for £2,500 ...

Lancasters in the past have proved not to be good for me I have had a few issues with them so I travel past Colechester from Suffolk to Joe Macari in London it is a pain but IMO the job gets done CORRECT and when I want it done.
