Should I Buy a Maserati 4200 Spdyer?
Discussion
Ok,
Been really through all sorts of car buying options as some of my recent posts whow and it has come down to this and a Range Rover. Had a rangey as last car and loved it but thinking may take this opportunity to get something a bit special.
The 4200 has a 0-60 time of under 5 seconds so that should be fun to say the least. The coupe offers 4 seats but I'm thinking if I go for fun and thrill I might as well go for the rag top version and really have a giggle.
The value for a "supercar" is also pretty good that sort of performance and classic styling for under £30,000 has got to be good!
So any owners out there that can tell me how the ownership experience is? Also bring on all the comments and help...
Cheers

Loved our 4200 Spyder, would definitely buy another but the Wife found it a bit too aggressive and now loves her Boxster which I have to admit is a better car in terms of handling, ride and general driveability but the Maserati scores on looks, outright power and that engine sound
I seem to remember yours was also very quick in comparison to say an M3...

never kept a car as long as this, great ownership and feel good factor, good value, good reliability etc etc
negative stuff, CC takes getting used to & scuttle shake is its biggest drawback (better on models 03>
do it, you'll love it
I did the Tubi & changed the wheels (see profile) & am very pleased with both

Moresauce my best friend is selling an 02/52 Spyder Cambiocorsa very cheaply. It needs the wheels to be refurbed and two small bits of paintwork, but a cheeky bid in the low-twenties will definitely secure it. It's blue with beige leather and has all the toys. Email me if you are interested.
Yes get one...do your resaerch go in with your eyes open and you will love it. I have a 3200, have driven a 4200 CC, Spider and Gransport. The Spider isn't as planted on the road as the coupe but the noise with the roof down is amazing. Personaly if you can stretch to a Gransport thats what I would do....Every time I get in the 3200 look at the interior and start the car up it's feels special....just make sure you research the running costs so you will have no suprises later on.

The key thing is to work out the cost of whatever you buy over the number of years you plan to keep it. e.g. don't say holy cow £2k per service thats loads, add up purchase, running, service, depric etc over the years and compare on that basis. Edited by Andyt25 on Saturday 1st September 06:02
Do it on a total cost of ownership rather than fuel vs insurance vs service vs purchase price and you'll be fine.
Again whats more expensive a 50K car with £200 a year service or a 45K car with 2K a year service (if they have the same depreciation and warranty etc)...
