Go to www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/ and click on "vehicle enquiry" on the left hand side.

Google Ferarri 4HP and some links call it a "400i GTO" Looks very nice for a DIY jobbie!

Spotted this at a previous Revival and yes, it does appear, from my previous research, to be a rebodied 400i. It's gorgeous.

From what I recall, it is a one off based on a 400 donor car.
Looks good in the flesh.

I read about it in a classic car mag a few years ago, built on a 400i chassis, i saw it a goodwood last year, still had the 400i dials inside.

Saw this on Saturday and yes, really gorgeous...

There were so many other gorgeous cars though.

It has been at several Revivals, often to be found spotted next to a cpl of 275GTBs.

It is quite simply beautiful.

I've seen this one many a time at Goodwood and each time I get drawn into just how great it looks. I had no idea that it was based on a 400i, it really could pass for a genuine special bodied 60's Ferrari.

A huge clap and a bow to the guy that commissioned it.

I really hope that somebody on here can shed some more light on this beautiful machine.

I think the Bamfords now own it - Joe has driven it down for the last couple of years. The car is based on a shortened 400i s/n 37647 and was conceived as a '65 GTO'. Probably designed by Chris Hampson (the then owner) and Chris Major, with the chassis frame work by Brian Wingfield (DRL Engineering) and the body by GP Metalcraft.

All my pics from the weekend are now uploaded to http://bonneville-speed-week.smugmug.com/

I'm not so convinced. The back is a bit too lightweight E type, the side windows are too big and too deep and thirdly I think the ratio of metal above the front wheel to wheel size (which is very important in car design so I believe) is too high, you'll see when compared to these proper beauties -

275 GTB shortnose

'64 250 GTO

Of course, it is a good looking car and far better than I could ever dream of doing however I feel it is a bit too 'British' with its wider more rounded arches, it says more DB4 Zagato meets CUT7 for my liking. The nose treatment is stunning though!

SS

EDIT TO SAY - can't believe how unappreciative of the efforts involved in creating this car and picky I have just sounded...sorry can't find a 'hang head in shame' similie so hope this will do paperbag

Don't beat yourself up fella. I too think it's a munter. Dreadful kit-car rubbish that looks like a cut-job of 3 separate cars.

Vignale must be spinning (if he's dead).
