What exactly is the knowledge base for this car? Values, residuals, things to look for when buying, problem areas, etc. Is it difficult to find a good example?
Also, how would you guys say the F50 stacks up to (if at all) the Jaguar XJ220? The 220 is pretty much the only car that could give the F50 a run for the money for me, at this price point at least...

Price points are totally different! Also, how would you guys say the F50 stacks up to (if at all) the Jaguar XJ220? The 220 is pretty much the only car that could give the F50 a run for the money for me, at this price point at least...
Oh my! I thought the XJ220 was much more expensive than that...
Well, are they in a different league from each other in terms of performance? Roughly the same top speed and acceleration figures as far as I can remember from the mid-90s !
So what about handling and tractability and whatnot...
Can anyone here answer my other questions?

XJ220 about GBP £110,000 Upwards, depending on Mileage, Colour, etc. UK Specialist is Don Law. Lots of XJ220 have had tank changes done and this is a must have on purchase if you are looking to buy.

F50 about £320,000 +. Not many cars around in the UK, Europe is your best bet. Cars were limited in number so history should be relativley traceable. Don't know much on the F50 on what to look for, but a friend had one for a week and flipped it for a very sizeable profit a few years back-regrettably didn't get to drive it

IIRC Dion has sourced a few F50s before - and I don't know anyone who hasn't been satisfied by his service!http://www.elmscollection.com/start.htm
The F50 compared against the XJ220 is in a different league.
The XJ220 was built and designed on a limited budget, and as such suffered from terrible parts bin syndrome, limited accessability inside, the wrong engine, and brakes that just aren't up to the job. Inspite of all of that, it is one of the most hilarious cars I have ever driven, with a power delivery that is like reaching the top of a huge roller coaster and falling down the drop for the first time. It is astonishingly fast, handles very well, as long as you get used to the dimensions and the lack of visiblity, and leave enough room to brake.
Don Law is the expert, and has helped me greatly in the past with everything XJ220, including the essential brake overhaul which is essential.
The F50 on the other hand is in a different league. If you imagine all the good bits of the F40, light weight, razor sharp responses, everything Ferrari know about making stunning exotic cars, and then take out the bad bits of the F40,(not that they are really bad bits, bedcause the car is perfect) such as turbo lag and dated brakes, you have a Ferrari so great that you really need an Enzo or Veyron to catch it, or a Diablo to upstage it.
The F50 has long been the bridesmaid, but those who have driven them all know which one to rate, and the F50 is one of the greats.
With regards to prices, £80-120k will get you a good XJ220, but you will need £300k upwards to get a prpoer F50.
As I've said, speak to Don Law re. the Jag, or NIgel Jeffries at Carrs in Exeter for the F50. He is somewhat of an expert on them.
Tell them I sent you.
Cheers,
Ruttboy.
