Guys,

Has anyone else with a Murcie (and a Tubi) noticed a distinct smell of fuel on the over-run when driving with the window partially open??? Could it just be un-burnt fuel venting from the exhausts?? then being sucked back over the car - or poss from the intakes??

Also has anyone noticed a smell of fuel when the car is standing in the garage - does the tank vent to atmosphere??

Just wondering if the Tubi is harboring un-burnt fuel?..or poss car is running too rich since last service??

Darren,

Sounds like you have a leak mate!! Should get it checked as soon as, could be costly!!

Yeah,

I thought that intially - checked the car over and nothing to be found - and even getting in the car after a week of inactivity there is no smell of fuel - only when heading down the road and crusing with the window open!

Leaking fuel pump or hose maybe, more noticeably when the engine/pump is running?

Darren, I had a fuel smell with mine, When i changed the air filters there is a return pipe on top of the tank that had come off, if you take the carbon cover off where the air box is you can see the fuel pipes from there on top of the tank, it may not be this but its worth a look,

Thanks! Where exctly is the return pipe (as I also suspect this is what has happened - some sort of breather pipe come off I'm guessing - when car was recently serviced - they were replacing the fuel flap lid solenoid and it's only happened since then) - I took the top carbon cover off (i.e the easy one!) -on the offside, beside the filler spout - but couldn't see anything obvious that resembled the top of a tank!...or return/breather pipes. Do I need to take the air box off as well to see it??

It was a while since i did this but i did take the air box out.. you will see a few fuel lines on the top of the tank. if i remember rightly one did go to the overflow on the fuel fill area, you need to take the top of the air box off and there is 3 bolts under the filter it comes off,
