It actually dosen't look too bad in this color combo, I would go as far to say I would buy one for the Mrs if it was priced at £67.995!!

Totally agree on the cut and shut point. I just raised the same issues on the porsche forum on a similar topic.

Have you seen one in the metal?
To me, looks nothing like a TT either in pictures (or as I saw the other day) in the metal.
I thought it looked utterly fabulous, the front is so aggressive and IMO has almost the presence of a Gallardo.
Stunning car, surprised about the comments though, if it had a pranciny pony or bull on the front I bet most would swoon over it... smile

I spent a long time looking at a number of R8's because I was thinking of buying one. The back looks like if fell of transporter at a 30deg angle and fused with the front of any of the Audi range. Each to there own but IMO it has way, way less presence than a Gallardo. So I bought a Gallardo.

Its undoubtedly a good car, but i really could not bring myself to pay £95k for an Audi, the same as, CGT excepted, i could not pay over £100k for a Porsche and so have ignored the 997 TT.
Also, I just wonder what residuals and sales will do once the initial excitement has died down .... NSX anyone?

A friend of mine just started a new job at an Audi garage.
He said did I want to pop in on Saturday & have a long drive in an R8.

Now, had he said did I want to pop in and have a long drive of a Gallardo, I would have been there in a shot. But I just wasn't that interested in going down there to drive an Audi. Ended up going to B&Q and buying a leaf blower, and thats not something I would have done if the keys to a Lambo had been waiting for me.....

biggrin

I've heard rumours they are going to fit a V10Watt motor to the bosche, which would mean it'll actually be faster than the stihl super blower, but it keeps bursting into flames.....

I am looking to buy an R8. You do know that underneath the skin its a Gallardo and drives just as well.

And it certainly doesn't have any less presence than a Gallardo. A black Gallardo and a red R8, no way will the Audi get less attention. Have you seen the headlights? At some angles, it is patently obvious they are based on one another anyway.

Each to their own, but at least I can keep renewing the warranty on the R8 when I buy one.

Congratulations, hope you'll be happy with the R8. Under the skin we're all the same too, your point is?

If this is important to you in your car choice, I'm happy for you. Some would say you've missed the point.

Yep, you've missed the point. Enjoy your Audi wink

PS. This post has been tongue in cheek, seriously, enjoy your car!

Because I have an opinion on cars - like everyone else on here, and (unless the forum rules have changed) I am free to express that opinion.

My point was that an R8 doesn't get me excited like a Lambo Gallardo does.

Just find it strange that someone on a motoring enthuisiasts website would actively choose to go to B&Q over driving an R8? confused I'd rather drive a diesel Nissan Bluebird than go to B&Q

I have now seen red, silver and black R8's on the road.
IMO It looks like a sports car only in the black. The red just looked odd, and in the silver it looked like a new version of the TT.

A Lambo in black always looks great and IMO is far more imposing than a red R8. However if it is reliability you are after.........

I guess which car you buy depends on individual needs. But if anyone wants an R8 - please buy black.

Lol...This R8 vs G is a joke!

Have you even driven both....No!.....Otherwise you would not say that!

It drives nothing like a G it is completely sedate in comparison. It has far less prescence than a G no way will it get the same attention as a G.

People stop and turn around to see what's coming when they hear it and stop listen to the G as it drives away, you'd barely hear the R8 over the whine of a eco friendly hybrids car.. haha

One min you potential R8 owners are claiming that it is an understated G now it will attract the same attention, please make your minds up!

Worse thing about the R8 has nothing to do with the car, it's the 'potential' owners, how many G owners do you see running round saying that the G is a better car and will attract the same attention as a Murci??
