Took the G to Paris didn't miss a beat... easily pulls close to max speed (apprentlry ;-) ) and then watched England bash the French ...could not have been a better

Have to say first long trip I have taken her on eand she was superb...smooth, fast and easy to drive.....awesome

Why is it the French are so into sports cars - filming , wavig , flashing lights (not blue ones fortunately) yet here in the UK its a w*nker sign or a key down the side ??

Sounds like a great trip. Luckily not everyone is like that in the UK .. YET!! But I do agree with you.

I have just managed to get myself a couple of tickets for the final and am thinking of doing exactly the same thing! Glad to hear you had a good time. Just trying to make sure the hotel has decent parking. Can't wait!

The French always puzzle me the way they all love cars but olny ever seem to drive small cars or at best a big Renault or Puegeot.

You often see fantastic looking houses with immaculate grounds and gardens with a sh1tty old rusty 205 paked in the drive.

Paris is even worse. As most people use the cars parked in front and behind as parking sensors there is no point in getting a decent car as it will be battered within a few hours of parking it on the street.

If you go to the rugby take a few extra days, drive down to spend the night near Dijon then take the autoroute to Grenoble before turning onto the Route Napoleon.

Glad you had a good trip, Basher. thumbup

We had much the same experience in France. The French don't have a car culture, generally buy domestic and wouldn't thank you if you gave them a German car. All polar opposite to the Brits.

The surprise for me was Italy. Seems the average Italian driver doesn't give a rat's ass what you drive, even if it's an Italian sportscar.

Stuck in Milanese rush hour traffic, I had to forget what I was actually driving and pretend I was driving a 15 year old Panda instead. If I hadn't I'd still be there today!

Yep, out on Friday night back Sunday lunchtime.

Taking a rented 7-seater though so not hugely fussed about parking, so long as its safe.

You are also not allowed to do any mechanical mods at all without paying to have the car SVA'd so most French car enthusiasts stick to doing cosmetic mods.

You see loads of 17 year olds driving around in bog standard shopping cars with the most ridiculour body kits on them

I'm training it on one of the few Eurostar's that's not been cancelled - mini panic about that this morning!!
